Wanted to change previous financial adviser as she was not giving us clear plan of pension investment.

Yes, so far so good.

How has James Quinn helped you?

He suggested and helped to consolidate several different pension pot based on long term financial simulation, which was very useful to visualise what to expect along the line. Also gave us the advise not to consolidate the one which has final salary plan scheme. I think it was a appropriate recommendation as well.

What could they have done better?

More regular discussion, maybe once every quarter, as I am closer to reach national pension age (66) and want to build a plan for drawing pension strategy.

Jim has taken over a very out-of-date and neglected financial plan for me and my family. He has provided clear, calibrated and intelligent advice. He listens and asks incisive questions.

What could they have done better?

Keep checking that I understand the products and services we discussed last time. I always think I understand at the time, but sometimes the meaning eludes me by the next time we meet.

I've known Jim for a long time now and he has advised on and set up company pension schemes, personal pensions, life and illness protection and other things for my businesses and family. He is always straightforward, his advice is sound and he has never promised something he could not deliver.

Jim is very personable, and speaks or can speak in laymans terms which is what I need. He is not tied to products which I think helps him give independant advice. He is also clued up on tax implications with investments which again I think is important when considering overall strategy.

What could they have done better?

Although my investments and pension strategy tend to be for the long term, it would be good to recieve more regular updates of how things are doing, if only to say they are going as expected. It may be a dangerous tactic of course as if you see investment losing in the short term you may opt out too soon, but at least it lets the individual make their choice.

I found Jim through a mutual friend when I needed advice on my Equitable Life pension. He proved himself to me when we decided to put my pension pot with another provider & it flourished. We have known each other for many years & I trust him. Jim explains about a product or service & if I decide or go my own way he accepts it.

What could they have done better?

We have got my situation pretty much sewn up & in place, however I will need direction when I decide to semi retire. I like tangible assets such as houses so I tend to sort them out myself.
