Clive was really helpful with helping us navigate our choices around life insurance, income protection, family income benefit, etc. He is good at explaining the different options clearly and helping us think through them. Our first meeting was in person, which was a good way to establish good communication from the beginning, and since then he has always responded very promptly over email. I would highly recommend Clive for anyone wanting to sort out their personal insurance cover.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

I sold a house that I had inherited and was unsure what to do with the lump sum I received, as I have no immediate need to spend it.

How has Clive Collett helped you?

Clive was really friendly and helped me to understand all my options thoroughly, particularly as I have absolutely no experience with investments or financial planning. He took the time to fully explain what would happen to my investment, and reassured me at every stage of the process. I am definitely a fairly risk-adverse person, but Clive helped me without putting any pressure on me to go further than I was comfortable with. There are areas of the process of investing where if he was a more unscrupulous person he could definitely have taken advantage of my inexperience, but he did the complete opposite - I feel fully informed and secure in the choices I have made regarding my investment.

I had an excellent initial meeting with Clive when he explained the options and what he would review in terms of my current pension providers and what he would investigate regarding my options. Upon reviewing my current arrangements, Clive recommended no action at this time. I thought this reflected very well on him as an advisor as this meant that he had reviewed my situation for free and would earn no fees for this work. I will definitely be returning for his advice when the time comes for me to change my circumstances.

I really thought I could look after my own pension affairs,but with all the recent changes in pension law I didn't want to make any serious misjudgements. I also wanted to engage with a local advisor not a faceless beurocrat.

How has Clive Collett helped you?

He did ,(and does), an amazing job,clearly understands my needs and is very thorough,at no time did I feel pushed along a particular path. It was worth the fees just for the complex amount of form filling which I would have struggled with. He uncovered some happy surprises along the way,which I would have not known about. With something like pensions which you work all your life for,you it makes sense to take professional advise and Clive knows his stuff. He has always responded fast to emails and calls.

Yes,100% ,everything and more I requested has been delivered.

What could they have done better?

Nothing really,I didn't follow some of the jargon and acronyms, but I didn't need to,he simplified it to a point that I understood what I needed to.

To be honest I don'the know what I would'be done without Clive, he wrote to all the annuity company's to see who could give me the best deal, he sorted out my 25% tax free gratuity plus all paperwork that was required.

Yes, it was actually much more than I expected, very very pleased.

I can't think of anything at the moment, i was kept upto date on everything, couldn'the have asked for a better financial advisor

Clive provides sounds advice when requested and is never pushy. He is always well-prepared and well-researched. His advice has stood the test of time over a number of years now. He has always shown complete integrity when changing his own employment status by being open with me about the implications of sticking with him or looking elsewhere for advice. He respects the boundaries that I set but also is prepared to stretch my thinking to consider other investment options.

Sometimes Clive needs to slow down and maybe simplify his language. Financial products are notoriously jargon-rich and occasionally he slips into the jargon, though this has never been a major issue for me.
