Kim was extremely quick in getting back to me. Arranged a meeting within a few days and discussed my issues. Once Kim had ascertained my needs, he was like a bloodhound on the right trail to put things together. One thing that Kim has shown me face to face is that he is not afraid of hard work to get the best for his clients.

We were looking for a financial health check for our investments which was long overdue, particularly with a view to pension planning.

How has Kim Barrett helped you?

Kim made a review of our investments and recommended alternative investment strategies that may improve our potential pension returns. He also recommended consolidation of several diverse investments to reduce overhead costs in running these.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

It is still too early to say as the changes have just been implemented.

What could they have done better?

We were very pleased with Kim's approach, which at all times has been friendly, knowledgeable, attentive and professional. he has also been respectful of any decisions that we have made that have perhaps been contrary to some of his recommendations. We would struggle to recommend any improvements he could make at this time.

He was insrtumental in helping to redeem 2 Endowment Policy and, together with his son Joel bulit a portfolio of funds to meet my investment objectives which is managed proactively but not overly so. Apart from an annual update visit, we receive regular information on changes to our portfolio as well as helpful advice on the products and how best to use any financial benefits.

What could they have done better?

Financial advice can be confusing at the best of times and when there is even a slight difference of opinion between the advisors it makes it even more so. However, it probably shows best practice that they are showing more than one option to achieve a similar goal for the customer.

My advisor goes through an annual appraisal with me to explain the performance of my investment against target. He explains where some investments have under performed and why. We discuss fully the targets for the forthcoming year and how they should be achieved.

What could they have done better?

If there is one thing that could be improved from my perspective is a regular quarterly brief overview of performance to date of my investment. I have access to thisinformation via transac but this takes time for somsomeone who is not using the the information on a regular basis.

We can have an honest conversation on strategy, how new legislation impacts our assets and whether our objectives are feasible given the volatile economic climate. Information is clear and concise. The company provides investment advice from a qualified advisor and views are listened to, discussed and research provided.

What could they have done better?

We live in France so proposals that suit a UK resident do not always work for us. It would be helpful for the company to have a better understanding of some of the tax and social charge issues relating to pensions and investments. I appreciate this is a big 'ask' but may become more relevant as more people move abroad following the changes for pensions in April 2015.

Kim has been my Financial Adviser for more years than I care to remember and have him always found him to be very easy of address, friendly and always available whenever I need to ask any advice. We have an annual meeting and he comes armed with all the available information concerning my finances and indeed I have never had to ask if there is anything missing. I retired fully at 60 years old and without his planning and advice over the proceeding years I guess I might still be working !

Explained fully and lucidly the implications of portfolio investment management of my draw-down Pension Fund. Kim provides a very professional service, I am not a whiz kid in any way but he communicates well and explains things in a way that I can understand. He has a lot of patience and is willing to give as much time as is necessary, never in a rush to get on to the next thing .Regarding his charges, I know he explained these but to be honest I now can't remember how these are calculated but I know if I rang him he would not hesitate to explain again- and again!

What could they have done better?

I have an annual review and am quite happy about this but if he said he would review things bi annually I would be happy with this too. I know if anything was a worry to him he would call me and ask what I thought and give me advice and ask what I'd like him to do.I would probably like a little more explanation of the calculation of charges and as states above I know he has explained these and I haven't remembered!

My previous Financial Adviser left me a little in the cold when he suddenly decided retire from being a Financial Adviser. I was recommended that I go to Barretts Financial Solutions and after contacting Kim, a meeting was arranged when my Pension and other Investments were discussed in detailed. Kim came up with many suggestions and advice. Kims expertise allowed my Pension to be transferred to an Investment account and in fact I received compensation from my Pension Company when Kim found an irregularity in my Pension. KIm, along with his son Joel, have been available, either by phone or a meeting at their offices, to expertly advise on any problems I may have with my Pension or Investments. When I was approaching retirement age I had several pensions which were acquired over my working life, as I wanted to secure the best package that would benefit both my wife & I so searched for a local adviser. I choose Barretts as it was a father & son set up & was local. That was 6 years ago & never regretted my choice. Kim is always there if I ever need advice & the investments that have been made have outperformed any of the other more traditional investments I could have made.

Whilst I appreciate an immediate written report following our Annual Review meetings, and I understand that it is probably necessary to safeguard both parties by giving a detailed account of discussions, I would personally prefer the report to be a little less lengthy. As I am not great with financial terminology, I currently have to psyche myself up to read and fully digest these reports.
