How has Gary Hitchen helped you?

Having never been involved in getting a mortgage before due to having lived in military housing for the last 19 years, I could never have imagined the process being as painless and seamless as Mr Hitchen made it. The process seemed to be over before we knew it and whilst a lot of that may have been due to not being in a chain, the experience could not have been better. I got the impression that Mr Hitchen cared about us as customers and had complete pride in what he was doing. I would deal with him again in a heartbeat.

What could they have done better?

I have not got any other other experience of FAs so have no comparisons and I was wholly happy with the whole experience. We were kept informed all the way through the process.

Gary is very clear and concise with an extremely helpful and insightful manner. He listens to your situation and explains each step of the way with clarity. He helped to provide a significant improvement in relation to my mortgage, giving regular updates and answering any questions I had. After several meetings it allowed me and my partner to build up a good level of trust with him, safe in the knowledge he was providing the best possible deal for us. He is easy to talk to, shows patience and has a strong technical understanding of the financial markets.

I can't remember how we got to meet Gary, what I can say is every single time we've sat with him he's been supportive, structured and knows his stuff! One word springs to mind "Trust". Gary is absolutely working for you, he genuinely puts your best interests at heart and makes the world of finance seem a lot more friendlier than it looks. He invested time in us as a customer, answered all our questions and allowed us to make our own decisions. He's one of the most approachable people I've ever met, he's proactive in his approach and considered in what's on offer.. oh yes and has the patience of a saint!

I've previously used a different adviser but I wasn't entirely satisfied with the service. I contacted Gary and within 1 hour of my meeting, my policies were set up. I was in no doubt that his main concern was getting the appropriate cover for my needs and his advice was very clear, taking time to thoroughly explain everything. Gary is not at all pushy and was a pleasure to deal with. I can't recommend him highly enough.

Gary provided me with advice in relation to taking out some life cover policies which I needed to protect my young family. Although I felt that I was relatively 'au fait' with this area of financial planning, it soon became obvious that Gary is very knowledgeable on this subject and was able to ensure that I took out the right level of cover at the cheapest and most affordable price. We have used Gary's services for reviewing our mortgage and / or mortgage and life insurance policies on two or three occasions. He has always fully understood our requirements from the outset, is completely thorough and efficient in his research and dealings with us and the mortgage / insurance companies, provides us with a good selection of options, and is a huge help when we've have been confused about anything. We have nothing but confidence when Gary is arranging any mortgage or insurance for us, and he is a pleasure to do business with! Unlike experiences with other financial advisers in the past, we never feel pressured with Gary and feel completely at ease, and therefore never hesitate to recommend him to others. We will certainly be seeking his advice again in the future.

Unfortunately, we are unable to suggest any improvements! Gary's assistance has always been excellent. The only suggestion we can make is please continue as you are!

How has Gary Hitchen helped you?

I have sought Gary's advice on many occasions in relation to mortgages. Each time he has managed to secure an improved deal both in terms of cost and length of repayment. Gary's approach is very much to be led by the client but to offer the best advice he has available. He never pushes individual products and is happy for the client to make their own proposals. Gary has never failed to find me an improved mortgage each time I have approached him. Gary is always happy to make himself available when the client needs him. Working commitments my my time availability limited. This is never a problem for Gary, who simply makes appointments at times suitable to me.

What could they have done better?

I have yet to find a weakness in his advice or approach!

A genuine financial advisor who puts you at ease within minutes of his arrival. Very knowledgable, very honest and is NEVER pushy. A good listener who takes the time to understand exactly what you want. Never guides you towards a specific product but always explains the positives and negatives with your decisions without being condescending.

What could they have done better?

A very difficult question to answer especially as we are very satisfied with the service provided by Gary Hitchen but in the spirit of trying to find something to improve I would point out a previous meeting when Gary brought a specific expert to our home to assist in helping us decide whether or not to make a significant payment off our outstanding mortgage with the windfall we had received. The 'expert' had a totally different personality to Gary and in our opinion had his own agenda from minute one regarding what we should do. He was pushy and did not seem to grasp the enormity of the decision to us. We decided very early in the meeting NOT to listen to the ' experts' advise. My suggestion to improve for Gary is to ensure you understand the personality of your clients. I am sure the 'expert' was giving us good advise but we did not like him very much therefore following his advise was never going to happen.
