We had a very informative opening meeting with Martin. He showed us a new way to look at our finances with future life plan goals in mind. He knows his subject very thoroughly, and there was no pressure from him whatsoever.

Poor communication from previous advisor.

Thorough evaluation of my financial affairs and those of my wife. Review and updating of investments along with reduction of fees.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Yes, although this is ongoing.with inheritance planning.

What could they have done better?

I’m not aware of anything he could have done better.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

I have always felt I needed advice and guidance financially after inheriting funds in the past. Having no financial skills I felt a financial adviser seemed the right thing to do.

How has Martin Turbin helped you?

Martin has been extremely helpful and supportive in offering me processional advice over these last few years. Always answering any queries promptly and efficiently and explaining in financial terminology I understand !

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Yes, all the changes we have made to my portfolio are proving to be satisfactory and benefiting my financial needs.

I was not happy with the one I had.

He has helped me with financial planning and especially to plan for retirement.

Yes.

What could they have done better?

The fund we have invested in has not seen huge growth but I am hoping for that to improve in the future.

How has Martin Turbin helped you?

Over the last year Martin has researched a new approach to my pension investments. He has put a lot of his time and effort into this research. He has explained the new approach clearly and I am now pursuing the different approach. Time will tell whether this proves to be a good move, but I believe Martin's research and the meetings he set up with the Investment Managers point to this being a successful move. Martin is always approachable and his response time for answering questions is excellent. He lets me know when he is off on vacation so I am aware of potential delays to his responses.

What could they have done better?

Nothing springs to mind in the last year.

With Martin I always feel he puts my own best interests first. He has the ability to listen well and understand my requirements before making any recommendations. I used to find financial matters a little intimidating and even stressful but Martin has taken a great deal of care to explain my options in a way i can understand. In order to provide a fantastic service to our existing clients we are only able to look after those who have at least £250k of assets to invest. We display this clearly in our VouchedFor profile. When we receive an enquiry we always ask potential clients if they fit with this profile

Martin manages my Pension fund which is held in a SIPP. Martin recommended the provider and the funds for investment, I am very pleased with the performance of the fund and the level of charges. Martin regularly advises me of new legislation and how that effects me and any new options available to me. I find the annual face to face review of all my income/expenditure and opportunities very useful.

Martin considers products available in the market from the view of individual investors and tailors his advice appropriately. He never forces his opinions but leaves it to the individual to make informed decisions.

What could they have done better?

I suspect that most of Martin's clients are fairly local whereas I am based in N Ireland. Face-to-face meetings are best but not always possible in this situation. I would appreciate two or three informal, but scheduled, telephone calls each year to get his opinion on how my portfolio is progressing.

Martin's main strengths are: - Financial Planning for my retirement years. He gathered all my financial information (income and expenses) and laid it out over the years to come. This has helped me make several key decisions. - He has his "finger on the pulse" of financial options and choices. He has good contacts and has recommended the options which have been good for my wife and I, so far. - He is approachable, listens to my many questions and comes back with answers promptly, if he doesn't know the answer straight off. - He also explains complicated financial options in plain language that I understand.

What could they have done better?

I am unable to think of further improvements at the moment.

I was widowed in 2009, never having had to manage money. Martin came in, at that point, to manage the money in a trust, left by my late husband. He is highly efficient, and effective, and, at the same time, he is a kind, and understanding man. I can ring him at any time, and he is endlessly patient, when explaining things to me.

What could they have done better?

I can't think of anything more that he could do.

Martin visits me annually and more often if needed to update my portfolio, advise on tax planning and answer my concerns. I have been with him for years and he knows about my financial situation in detail. His advice has developed with experience and he has adjusted and coped well with the currently difficult investment situation much to my advantage. I have not compared him with others for value, but have found him honest, reliable and helpful in planning for my personal needs. Advice is not cheap, but I expect to pay appropriately for independent advice given without pressure to make a sale to me, so am satisfied to stay with him and recommend him to others rather than having advice from a bank.

What could they have done better?

I cannot think of anything. Martin can only go on widening and deepening his knowledge which is already very extensive and aimed at keeping ahead of the times.
