What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

I was looking for help with an inheritance originally, and shortly after that, supporting my father in managing his finances in his later years, when he had some significant decisions to make. Neither of us was confident in his existing advisor, nor our understanding of the options open to us. My father subsequently died, and I required ongoing advice regarding my inheritance, and the management of his pension.

Andy has been totally honest with me from day one, even originally declining my business, explaining how/why it wasn't in my interests to pay the necessary management fees at that time, given the amounts of money involved, and my uncertainty about my future at that time. He has supported me through the challenges of managing my father's affairs, and provided clear advice which really helped me understand how to support my father. When my father passed away, and I began processing his estate, Andy was my first port of call, and helped me throughout, and ever since. At times of severe illness, again, Andy has been really easy to talk to, and has always provided constructive options to help me get through. I have been using Washington Square (formerly Prangle) for many years now, and couldn't be happier with the service I've received. Taking on a financial advisor was for me, as I'm sure it will be for others, very daunting. I'm glad I made the right choice.

Yes I really have. I have a strong interest in ethical investment, and Andy has really listened to this, and tailored his advice to match. As I said above, he's really good at coming up with alternative ways to manage things at short notice, when life throws a curve-ball. He's utterly reliable, and always there at the drop of a hat.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

I became widowed unexpectedly and required advice to plan how best to invest a large sum of money and to ensure financial security for myself and my two children into the future.

How has Andy King helped you?

Andy was able to assist me to plan for this financial security as a lone parent. He was able to help ensure that my investments would grow but have a level of accessibility. He was also able to anticipate when there may be additional pressures on my financial commitments into the future helping me to plan long term into my retirement years. I was able to discuss pensions, tax concerns and any other financial issues that arose no matter how minor.

I see Andy's advice as ongoing as I juggle a family and all the financial demands this entails. Each year incomes and demands on my money alter but Andy is able to help readjust the plan and make changes that maximise my money to ensure that our standard of living is maintained and my children continue to have the opportunities I wish them to have.

I have every confidence in Andy who is never to busy to listen to my concerns. He patiently explains financial options and answers all my questions with his extensive knowledge and insight. For the last five years I do not believe I could have received better financial services.

How has Andy King helped you?

As I started to draw down my pension funds I needed advice on how best to manage the pension pot that I had built up. It was clear to me that a different management approach would be required to that applied while I was building up the funds. My requirement going forward is how to achieve my forecast annual drawdown requirements while “flattening the glide-path” on my remaining funds and minimising risk and the effect of market fluctuations (while of course not being so risk averse that returns are poor). Andy and I engaged early in the year to make certain that the advice he was to give me was correctly targeted and therefore affordable. Andy then studied options from an independent point of view and was able to provide me with compelling and clear advice on the best way to meet my needs. I have taken his advice and, while it is of course early days, I feel an important level of confidence about the future.

Andy provided us with incredibly detailed projections of our lifetime finical situation with certain variable factors included for comparison. The model was explained in a personal and un-jargoned way which made it simple for us to understand. It was really helpful and allowed us to see where we were finically vulnerable and Andy then mapped out our options. These options were explained without pressure to commit, the advice was unbiased and clear. We were given plenty of time to go away and digest the information and Andy was really welcoming of any concerns and queries that I had, and there were quiet a few as I am a sceptical person when it comes to finical products. Andy talked me through all of my queries with time and patience, he never once made me feel that I was wasting his time. When we felt ready to look at finical products we sat down again and went through these in detail. I was very impressed with the level of service he offers.

My wife and I have built a good relationship with Andy, he listens to us and understand our needs and goals. We never feel pressurised or hurried. He facilitated us as a couple to look at what we both wanted for the future. I feel I have a Financial Advisor, rather than someone trying to sell me a product. Andy's reasoned advice and his underpinning reports gave me the confidence that I could take early retirement.
