What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

I was looking for a review of my insurance and investment products.

How has Iain Reid helped you?

Iain helped me review my existing policies and understood what I was looking for. He explained the options clearly and answered all my questions. He was open and approachable and I felt I could trust his advice.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

I am happy with the advice Iain gave me, which was that my existing policies were good value and he did not try to persuade me to buy additional products.

What could they have done better?

Iain was honest and open and very good value! I have not marked his advice as excellent as I have not changed my policies as a result of his advice, as they are already good value, but Iain did provide useful information for me.

I worked offshore for 32 years and after poor advice from my banks financial advisor I decided I should find someone for myself.

How has Iain Reid helped you?

Iain understood my own needs and explained them to me in a way that I understood not just facts and figures.

We restructured my investments to suit my needs.

What could they have done better?

As it has only been recently that things were changed it will take a year or so to find out just how well things have done.

having sold my house and downsized I needed a better vehicle than the bank for my surplus cash, I looked for local help and found Ian.

he listened carefully (very important) and then made suggestions which we adjusted to meet my requirements and came up with the plan that we went ahead with.

Its early days, ask me in a couple of years time.

How has Iain Reid helped you?

I don`t often complete reviews or do recommendations of products or professionals,especially regarding financial services however, in the case of Iain Reid at Argyll and Bute Consultants I would make the exception. Iain has a very approachable yet professional manner, he never tries to baffle you using complex explanations but prefers to understand your needs,current situation,and future plans, he then explains in terms that are clear and understandable the best way to plan ahead. In the past when I`ve asked other financial advisors for advice I`ve been left either confused or not fully confident in either my understanding of what`s been proposed or not fully convinced of their choice of plan. In the last 5 years of dealing with Iain I can honestly say that every time we`ve meet to review or update any of my plans he`s always has left me 100% confident in our decisions and more importantly leaves me understanding the choices that I have made. In the past poor advice in the financial sector was usually driven by greed or poor understanding of the products the advisors were selling,it is refreshing in todays more regulated financial market where advisors are better far qualified to meet someone like Iain, he obviously understands the market and the products available but can translate his advice in terms that are understandable.

Iain explains clearly to me and helps me to understand all my fiinancial investments. He watches carefully how my investments are doing and suggests any change to me that would be to my advantage, making quite clear my options. He is always ready to answer any questions i have made and makes sure I fully understand anything I was unsure of. He does not rush me and gives me time to consider his advice.

help me to clear out all papers that I no longer need to keep. He has already promised to do this and i know he will.

How has Iain Reid helped you?

My adviser has patiently and clearly explained what he was suggesting for our investments, and has always been available when I have needed further clarification. The investments are so far doing what he forecast, and the new arrangements he suggested for tracking a spread of investments are helpful and simpler than before. As someone who prefers not to spend much time thinking about my investments, I am happy to have him take care of them; on his annual visits he ensures that I know what has happened over the past year. I should point out that my assessment of 'value for money' of his service is based on my lack of interest in making comparisons rather than any reservations about his services - I consider the services of someone like this whom I trust and can easily contact to be extremely valuable regardless of what anyone else charges, but felt I should be precise within the terms of the question.

What could they have done better?

I am extremely happy with this adviser; the only thing I might add would be that I ask a great many questions, many of them totally basic, and wonder if a less uninhibited client would necessarily achieve the same level of clarity in the final analysis. Graphs of progress, especially in colour, are always welcome ...

He doesn't just take your money and run. He gives you clear and concise information on your investment and not only outlines the gains to be had, but also the potential pitfalls and regular reviews are down to taylor your investment , as to whether you wish to invest in a more high risk strategy, or downgrade and protect your initial investment. Excellent and friendly service, keep it up.

Not a lot !! Very hands on and always approachable.
