Chris is advising me with pensions. He came round in July last year and was extremely helpful talking me through options, costs etc. This session was free of charge and I felt no pressure to continue if I did not choose to. I left this on hold for many months but have recently decided to go ahead with his financial advise. He has been extremely helpful and clear with his advice.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

I needed to transfer two overseas pensions to a new UK SIPP.

How has Chris Hues helped you?

Chris research options for the UK SIPP as not all providers were able to accept the transfers. Chris then dealt with both overseas plans and in one case the Superintendent of Pensions for the jurisdiction in order to secure their approval for the transfer.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Yes, it was a long and arduous process with many obstacles put up by the outgoing provider but Chris was very diligent and professional in dealing with them and was successful in the end.

What could they have done better?

Not a thing, I would not have achieved the outcome that I wanted without Chris' assistance

We were linked to a firm for a number of years that was eventually taken over and subsequently Chris became our adviser. When he went 'independent' we were most happy to stay with him as he had given very good service.

Chris was able to understand our position and make very helpful suggestions in terms of investment and making provision for grandchildren. He enabled us to understand the complexities of the market so that we could select the appropriate level of risk.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

I am in a Defined pension scheme, plan to retire five years early due to health reasons and was wondering about transferring my pension because of the potential added benefits for people with health problems.

How has Chris Hues helped you?

Transferring out of a defined pension scheme is generally held not to be advisable for good reasons. However I found previous advisers did not listen to my reality of having to retire early and therefore did not give me the right comparisons. Chris was straight about the benefit of staying with my pension scheme but was willing to clarify the figures to compare the merits of staying put or transferring given my real circumstances. As a result of him obtaining up to date figures we found out my pension scheme had previously given me an inaccurate quotation last year. This made all the difference. Chris then gave me the comparison figures I needed as to what my 'pot' would have to earn, if I transferred out, to compare with staying in my current pension scheme. He explained how several comparisons which made decision making for me easier. Chris listened to my needs and considered my options based on my reality. He visited my home twice and basically put some effort to finding out information. I am surprised at the level of service I got with no fees but also really appreciate his efforts.

As a result I now have an improved pension quotation from my scheme which makes transferring less likely.

What could they have done better?

Cannot think of any improvement- it was a very good service.

I was in the process of buying a house in a new area (to me), and I wanted advice on life cover/assurance. I also wanted to use the opportunity to review my current policies for critical illness and income protection, as well as my current pension arrangements - all things I have paid little attention to in the past. I contacted Chris off the back of other customer reviews, and have now met with him twice. I have found Chris to be friendly, patient, and able to explain things simply (insofar as you can for regulated products!). And I feel Chris has my best interests at heart - for example, he recommended I leave one pension where it was, whereas others may have encouraged me to move it.

Chris got in touch with me within 24 hours of me contacting Vouchedfor. We discussed my need for support with transferring my pension and he was very clear about what he could offer and what his minimum charge would be. We agreed to meet for a free 1 hour consultation but in the meantime I found another IFA who could offer the specific advice I required at a price I was more prepared to pay so I cancelled our meeting. Chris was very understanding and wished me well. I would have no hesitation in contacting Chris again if I needed more complex investment advice.

I am not very good with finances and I found Chris' advice very down to earth and easy to understand. He also keeps in touch on a regular basis either to update me on things or just to see how things are going. I also feel that I can ring him at any time if I have any concerns and he can either talk me through things on the phone or make an appointment to come and see me. I have just retired and Chris' advice on my monthly income has been invaluable.
