He is very knowledgeable and happy to give advice. All these years, he had managed to coach me, and even put me in contact with others to help to expand my BTL portfolio. I couldn't have achieve what I have today without his help.

Due to circumstances outside of our control, my partner and I were in a position where we had to leave our rented property and buy our first home, and so an Independent Mortgage Broker was our first port of call.

How has John Carter helped you?

I think the common thought when going through the house buying process is that applying for a mortgage is an incredibly complicated, time-consuming and headache-inducing process. My partner and I certainly thought the same when we embarked on the process as first time buyers. As it transpired, going through the mortgage application process turned out to be the easiest and most stress-free part of the whole process, but I don't think that would've been possible if we didn't have the sage guidance of John and Abode Mortgages. John explained everything to us in easily digestible terms, clearly navigated us through the process by clearly explaining our options, making the document collation process simple, and keeping us updated through every step of the way. John works to an industry-leading standard for an incredibly modest price and we are so thankful that we had John hold our hand through an incredibly stressful house purchase as uninformed first time buyers, and he really helped relieve us of all worries we had. We have used John Carter twice. On both occasions, John recommended the best available mortgage deals for our circumstances. He explained to us the available different types of deals including the special mortgage deals for BTL properties. John also advised us on how much we could borrow and he helping to prepare our mortgage application forms. He gets us the best lender and sends all the required documentation to them. He recommended to us a good solicitor and he also helped us to get the mortgage insurances. He followed the mortgage process to completion while keeping us informed all the time.

We where first time buyers looking to buy are first home, and multiple members of family and friends recommended John to us.

How has John Carter helped you?

John took all the stress out of buying our first home, he sorted everything and was at an arms length when ever we Weren't sure on something. we also had a few issues with the sellers estate agents/ solicitors which John sorted promptly and nothing was to much of a fuss. Towards the end of the process John was also able to help us with a quality home Inscurance and the same with life cover and explained the reasonings behind his choices.

John provided a huge range of invaluable help with my purchase. He suggested a variety of options that would work for me as a first time buyer, and was right at the end of the phone whenever I needed him. As a first time buyer, although I already had an agreement in principal, I decided to look for some professional mortgage advice.

How has John Carter helped you?

Shortly before the lockdown I arranged a meeting with John to discuss my mortgage options, what I assumed would be a boring and tedious process. However John's extensive knowledge and professionalism mixed with a bit of light heartedness and humour made a stressful and daunting process much more bearable. After providing the necessary paperwork and details John quickly demonstrated why I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone by finding me a better mortgage offer at a great rate. John's service and expertise didn't end there though, he provided me with a wealth of information as a first time buyer and liaised between the lender, my solicitor and the estate agent to make sure they had everything they needed.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

I wanted a mortgage to buy my first home. I had approached High Street banks and although I had a deposit and was close to being granted a mortgage, I fell short of being able to obtain the mortgage I needed to secure the home I wanted in my home town.

How has John Carter helped you?

John was very thorough and asked me to provide all of the paperwork in advance. Although this seemed arduous I was grateful later on as this sped up the process significantly. John is detail orientated and ensures that every last relevant fact is considered and supported with appropriate paperwork. John helped me find options with other mortgage lenders willing to finance my dream of owning a home, within my hometown.

Yes. I not only managed to get a mortgage, I obtained a very low interest rate for five years and managed to secure the home I had been looking for. I moved in during July.

For my first few straightforward BTL, yes, John managed the mortgages I required with no hassle and completed without excessive costs. On current more complicated project, the outcome was not ideal (which was by no fault of his at all), but John has then done everything he could to help salvage the project and recommended the right people to help fight my case and make sure that I'm being protected and was always happy to take my phone call, even in the evenings as it was more suitable to my schedule and the urgency of the matter.

What could they have done better?

John has gone above and beyond on all occassion, and truly understand what the client needs. I can't think how he could have done better than he already has. If there was another John Carter clone around to work as his replacement when he's away on holiday, that would be brilliant!
