What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

Initially, we met Martin when he worked for the Halifax. I was nearing retirement and my Wife and I had benefitted from work pension lump sums, inheritance beneficiaries and our savings. Our confidence with Martin's sensible, professional and above all avoiding undue investment risk as our preference led us to becoming loyal clients with our portfolio that he set up when he joined Strategic Solutions. We have been associated with Martin for over 10 years now and really value his advice and the confidence that goes with it.

How has Martin Waistell helped you?

Martin is always on hand should we want advice, reassurance and we have always enjoyed his regular visits. Martin will always give an honest appraisal of our portfolio performance and reassure, especially in these recent times of the UK's fairly turbulent economic times.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Yes, initially, we saw pleasing growth and have been satisfied with this given the low to medium investment risk that we prefer. We have recently taken out some lump sums to fund a new car and home improvements and seen performance stalling due to the economy, but generally no falling back. We are hopeful that with a surge in the economy our investment will start to take off again.

What could they have done better?

I honestly can't suggest anything. Our portfolio is mostly ISA based. We could have asked for more risk, but we don't want that at the moment.

Actually, as we have to answer the "value for money" question, we have selected good because, at the moment, we have not got that far on in the meetings. We have dealt with Martin in the past and feel we can trust him completely. He is a very personable young man and he explains things very well indeed. He makes you feel confident enough to ask questions especially when he has explained things and you don't quite get it, he will patiently go over it again.

What could they have done better?

We don't feel Martin could be any better, therefore this review is going to be rather short. He is everything that we need in an advisor.

We ( My Wife and I), are always reassured and have every confidence in the way that Martin manges are portfolio. Before planning our portfolio Martin took great care in evaluating our 'big picture', all aspects in terms of our lifestyle, our income, planned spending, working/retirement plans, financial expectations including the level of risk we would be happy with. Martin will always endeavour to review any of these factors. Martin is always at hand to answer questions and makes regular contact/visits to update us on performance and answer questions we invariably have. Aside from his financial expertise it is always a pleasure dealing with Martin's engaging, caring open approach. We honestly cannot fault his character or performance.

What could they have done better?

How has Martin Waistell helped you?

Martin has been very attentive and shows extreme patience. He makes what is strictly a financial meeeting a socially pleasant and very relaxed occasion without detracting from the business in hand. He has been very helpful in facilitating the renewal of our Wills and acting as witness. He has always been available or made contact without any appeciable delay. Any necessary confirmatory documentation has always been forwarded without delay.

What could they have done better?

Whilst i am very confident that the very small quantity of shares that we have are being closely monitored, maybe a confirmatory email occasionally would be reassuring to know that the shares do not need renewal. I have an annual review which is very adequate but an interim contact just to say all is well would be good. I stress that i have no fears that Martin is indeed keeping a close eye on things. Maybe my comment stems from the fact that I am not very au fait with the stock market and do need a good mentor !
