What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

Our previous adviser was retiring and he passed us on to Ian Finch.

How has Ian Finch helped you?

We have dealt with Ian since he came to Martin Aitken & Co and have enjoyed an excellent relationship with him. He has helped us update and maximise our portfolio, with good advice and excellent results in all areas of general financial planning, investments and tax planning. Their charges have also been very clearly explained to us by him. He is always forthcoming with ideas he thinks may benefit our situation. We have required some changes in the last few years and these have always been executed with speed and efficiency. Simply, we rely on him.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Ongoing . Investing for the longer term.

How has Ian Finch helped you?

At my first meeting with Ian in March this year, he listened carefully to what I was looking for in the way of financial planning advice and explained all the options that were open to me to get a better return on my savings and investments. I left the meeting confident that he was not only very knowledgeable but keen to help me attain my own particular goals. So much so that I chose there and then not to scout around other companies and to put my trust in him.

What could they have done better?

I am a very new client (since 24.03.2014) and have absolutely no complaints about anything. Even the "sign here" stickers on paperwork made that so much easier!

Pre retirement I was introduced to Ian by a friend who was a former employee of both Standard Life and Martin Aitken. He advised at the outset changes to where we were with the previous advisers with regards to lump sum and best way to deal with same. This advice proved to be first class and our pension portfolio has been excellent since the outset. Ian visits us twice yearly and his advice has always proved beneficial to us.

Ian listens to me. My situation and goals may not be normal but he accepts what I want and plans accordingly. He uses language I can understand and provides a simple summary of all investments. I have been able to approach Ian on a number of occasions with problems and queries and they have been handled efficiently with good advice given. Ian Finch has been our IFA for more than 20 years. In that time we have followed him in his various posts and that alone tells of our satisfaction.
