What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

I left my pension planning until very late, partly through fruitlessly researching another well-known pension provider whose offering turned out to be quite disappointing. I had several pension pots, several of which were beyond their maturity dates. I needed to organise my retirement income rapidly.

How has Mark Williamson helped you?

Mark re-acted rapidly to the urgency of the situation. He analysed my various pension schemes and my retirement needs He re-invested some of my funds, leaving some of the better pensions unaltered, as he judged most advantageous. When I did retire, a few months later, everything was in place.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

When I retired the investments Mark had made had already made enough to pay my first years pension without reducing the principal. They continue to grow in advance of my needs I have already consulted Mark about investing a small inheritance I expect in the near future

I am coming to retirement age and wanted to get things in place for when I retire, wanted to know what I can expect in the form of a future income. And to look for a good investment plan.

How has Mark Williamson helped you?

He worked with my pension suppliers to amalgamate the pension pots I already have. And to think about a future income against outgoings for when I retire. Mark sorted out an issue re the amalgamation, as it hadn't gone ahead when it should have done, but he worked to get it completed.

We are working towards that, as I am still working at the moment. I am in the process of putting together a future outgoings list, so I can judge what I will need to live on when I eventually retire.

We were looking for a review of the many insurance policies we had accumulated over the years. We had never really reviewed what we had, with life and protection, and knew we probably were either paying too much or had the wrong cover.

The advice required was in relation to an occupational (defined benefit/final salary) pension transfer, which we do not advertise as being able to do. If the value of any potential occupational (defined benefit/final salary) transfer (at retirement) is above £250k then we do have the ability to look at it via a specialist within our network.

I was initially looking for a financial adviser to set up a private pension but later met Mark for investment advice for some inheritance money.

For my pension, Mark was very clear and outlined all my options based on the risk that I wanted to take, my age and also my preference to avoid fossil fuel investment. Coming from a place where I had never seen a financial advisor before or had much experience with managing finances, I found Mark to be very approachable and understanding to my situation. I received a prompt reply following my first contact via VouchedFor and believe it is a positive that there is no minimum savings amount. For young people specifically, this is of real benefit. Mark took an overview of my financial situation and advised on a range of areas. Where I had questions about terminology Mark clearly answered these. I have more than one pension pot of which one is due in April 2018. Having read as much information as possible on my options and having visited Pension Wise, I was still at a total loss as to what was the best option for me to take. Having reached my early 50's with a variety different pensions and retirement investments, I needed to understand the value of each of the schemes, whether there was any benefit in moving or amalgamating any of them and what overall position I was in with regards to planning my retirement.

How has Mark Williamson helped you?

Mark did a very thorough job gathering the factual information from each of the scheme providers, understanding my current financial position and my retirement aspirations. He then did some great work to determine the pros and cons of leaving money in-situ or moving around so that I could make an informed decision about what I wanted to do. He was then able to take this information/decision and build a model that allowed us to examine options for retirement at different ages, and also to look at a number of what if scenarios, such as stock market volatility or finishing work earlier than I plan to do to see how resilient my circumstances are. Throughout the process, I felt at all times that he was acting in MY best interests.

Yes, most definitely! By the end of the process, I had a thorough understanding of my financial position with regards to retirement and on the back of the work that Mark has done, have been able to be confident about my plans to retire at the age I want to, and to then do the things I want to when I retire, all with enough flexibility built in to deal with the unexpected things that may occur along the way.

Mark was recommended to me by one of his previous customers with a review to taking existing retirement funds and investments and looking to improve performance and returns.

How has Mark Williamson helped you?

Mark carried out a full review and spent time with me to fully explain his suggestions and plan of action to move the money into better performing areas. Mark explained everything in a clear and easy to understand way and i felt looked after at every step of the way.

Having only had an initial meeting, Mark has been unable to give me a quote for the proposed work. However, he was very thorough and has taken away a variety of material in order to build up a better picture so he can specify charges. He was easy to talk to, and gave confidence that he would work efficiently NB in terms of service from vouched for, timeliness was excellent, my score of 7 is because they only provided one possible name - so impossible for me to make any kind of choice or decision

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

Due to illness I needed to look at taking my pension early. I needed advice regarding what options were available. It wasn't a big pot either, so I needed the best from it.

How has Mark Williamson helped you?

Mark totally understood what was needed. He kept us fully informed and explained all the options in a way which we could understand. There was no way we could have searched all the companies and got quotes, there's so many things to consider. Mark totally took this stress off us & we felt able to relax, knowing this would be sorted with our best interests.

I was aware that if I passed away before my wife reached state pension age she would be financially disadvantaged. I needed advice on how to protect against this possibility, Mark provided this service.

How has Mark Williamson helped you?

I needed advice on some life policies which would protect my wife in the event I pass away as my pension income would decrease. This would leave her unable to survive off the income she would be left with. Mark listened carefully and came up with a proposal which would bridge the income gap should I pass away meaning my wife's standard of living would not have to suffer and she would not have to call upon any capital in this event. I was really pleased with his professional approach and he did not try to 'sell' me anything, rather advised me on the most relevant policy to suit mine and my wife's needs. I would highly recommend.

We now have an insurance in place which gives us both peace of mind.
