What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

We were looking at transferring our private pensions to better investments that could be monitored by someone locally to us rather than one of the big corporate companies. We also had a large cash lump sum that we were unsure if to invest and if so then where.

How has Laurence Turner helped you?

Our initial consultation (which was free) gave us a proper insight to what was available related to our needs and future plans. Very informative with clear information that we could understand. None of the jargon, although when jargon had to be used, Laurence made light of this and turned the wording in to a way we could understand better. He has helped us move our pensions to a better investment plan for our needs.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Oh yes definitely. We are able to monitor our own funds through a website and we can see clearly what is happening, every month to our funds. Laurence and his team have also helped us when we have had questions on either withdrawals or other investments. They are truly honest in all their advice, it is never about what Laurence and his firm will get out of us... it has always been what is in our best interests.

Whenever re-balancing within our portfolios is advantageous we are immediately contacted to request our permission to do so. He has given advice on setting up investments for both our grandchildren and when the mechanics for one of these was discovered to be wrong it was immediately corrected and he personally made up the small financial loss. Following his continued advice, our financial position has continued to improve considerably and we are now well set up for the remainder of our retirement.

I was looking to move my pension pot from my employer to invest personally.

Laurence was recommended to me, initial conversation was free. My circumstances and request to move my pension pot and risks were discussed. What set him apart from the rest, is that initially he refused my request! He felt it was against my interest whilst still employed as my current pension scheme was so good. His advice was to come back if I was planning to leave the company. I feel that other financial advisors would have taken the transfer as financially beneficial to them. Lawrence is a professional and put my interest and benefits before his. I have since left employment and Lawrence has taken care of my pension as requested.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Yes, I am very pleased. My pension is performing well despite everything going on in the world. It has gone up and down but I understand the risks. Lawrence and his team at Investing For Tomorrow have been there throughout this last Covid year. There has been regular communication/updates via email and they are always on the end of an email or the phone if I have a query for them. This has meant a lot during these uncertain times. To summarise I am very happy with the service being provided.

What could they have done better?

The initial transfer period seemed very long which made me a little twitchy. However, when I raised this Lawrence he made a change to his procedure to ensure he set up customer expectations to avoid this in the future.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

In 1999 I was working as a training consultant and had a previous pension. I wanted to ensure a plan for the future.

How has Laurence Turner helped you?

Initially Laurence helped me source a pension and he managed this for me. At later date I merged my pensions to gain a better return. This pension is managed by Laurence. Laurence was outstanding in his understanding of a section 32 buyout that I was advised to action in 1995 and his assessment of this decision lead me to gain compensation of around £250,000. His integrity, professionalism, honesty and support is a credit to him and his profession. I trust him completely with my money.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Yes, the results are outstanding and the returns are still significantly better than expected. Based on these results I have recommended my family and friend to Laurence.

What could they have done better?

This is hard because Laurence does offer an impeccable service and I have not had any cause for concern or dissatisfaction. One opportunity to improve is feedback on referrals, just a note perhaps to confirm contact without compromising any confidentiality.

Laurence conducted a thorough review of our assets and liabilities and our attitude to risk . He helped us to complete a Dynamic Cash Flow Projection based on conservative growth assumptions which illustrated what our combined estate was likely to look like over the next 30 years after providing for a lifestyle based on our current spending as affected by inflation . The results , scientifically produced indicate we can more than afford to retire and to love comfortably. In one word, Laurence gave us 'confidence'

In April 2017 I went for an exploratory meeting with Laurence Turner at Investing For Tomorrow, Laurence was one of three financial advisors I visited with a view to transferring an existing defined benefit pension scheme, consolidating considerable investments I had in different places and reviewing a potential retirement timescale. In the first instance Laurence and the team made the choice of advisors extremely easy, they were clearly the most knowledgeable and the most interested in me. This was not some kind of formula at work, it was client centric throughout. The process was clear, easy to understand and completed within the timescales agreed, the costs were clear and at the time represented fair value, in hindsight they represent excellent value. Having taken early retirement I was looking for advice on how to invest my lump sum. My wife has a private pension and wanted advice on whether her pension was in the best fund. At the first meeting, Laurence spent nearly two hours, at his expense, getting to know us; what our goals and personal situation were. Laurence took time to explain his background, the services he provides how he would manage our funds, establish how risk adverse we were and explained his fees. What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

I am now a widow and was made redundant, and I needed help and advice on investing money I had never previously had.

How has Laurence Turner helped you?

He discussed getting better returns but still with the flexibility I needed. I can also monitor my investments that is important to me.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Yes, my funds have been invested and Laurence and the team were very helpful.

What could they have done better?

I can't think of anything!

I felt it was time to take stock of my pensions and this was prompted by an immanent change in my employer.

How has Laurence Turner helped you?

I was helped firstly by Laurence explaining what I actually had in relation to my pensions. This was clearly explained and demonstrated so that I could actually understand the financials.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Not as such as my pension portfolio is based on a 14 year projection, however the illustrations that were created for me made this easy to understand and I left the last meeting feeling very reassured as to where I am in my life at present in relation to my pensions.

What could they have done better?

From my perspective there was nothing that could have been done better. Of course I had questions during my second meeting but they were all answered clearly.

I had a long standing and under-performing pension scheme that required expert advise in order to achieve the return I expected of it.

Gave easy to follow advise about my options and possible risks before committing to a long term agreement whereby his company would manage my pension investments.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

So far yes. Laurence Turner continues to monitor and advise me in order to maximise my return but within well within the maximum risk I wished to expose myself to.

What could they have done better?

Unknown. I have no recent experience of existing advisers and have not been with Laurence long enough (10 months) to experience any downsides, if any should exist

I had my retirement investments originally with a independent adviser but they were taken over by a national independent advisers. The service deteriorated and required me to change my investments to a standard platform. After the poor performance of the platform any change to my portfolioI I had to pay a percentage.

Gave my wife and I the sort of advise werequested from a financial adviser with flexibility of our portfolio at a cost which was explained in full.

I wanted to check that I had enough money in place for my retirement and ensure my pension was invented the best way possible.

We both looked at what I already had in place then he talked me through all the options I had to improve my financial situation. He gave me clear advice and this was discussed in great detail. He made it easier for me to make choices. I also hear from the company on a regular basis.

Laurence had already been with us, through employment, as financial adviser, therefore, had already been handling savings for a good number of years.

How has Laurence Turner helped you?

When I wanted to finish work - ie retire, Laurence advised on the best course of action to take.

I believe so - I could not have handled, or even thought of, the available options myself.

What could they have done better?

I am sure there is always room for improvement - even for Laurence!! He DOES make mistakes at times, but always admits them in an accepting manner. He is always telling me off when it comes to 'attitude' and 'personality' but he certainly has 'attitude' and 'personality' of his own.

The world of pensions seemed to me to be very complex and as decisions that needed to be made are very important I felt that I needed to seek advice.

How has Laurence Turner helped you?

Laurence explained all the options open to me and helped me to make a decision as to what type of pension I wanted. Having done that he then took care of all the paperwork to bring everything together.
