I was contacted by a colleague which I wasn't expecting and whilst their advice was good we didn't get into detail on fees or even discuss a meeting.

Julian takes a great deal of personal trouble to meet our individual circumstances - in particular our demand for a 'green' investment portfolio.

What could they have done better?

Most of the things that could be improved are industry standards and nothing to do with the adviser per se.

In 2011 setting up my own business working as an interim Julian helped me to set-up tax efficient cover (income & health), Pensions (inc optimising previous pension schemes). Julian has provided a very comprehensive plan for both the pensions I had accrued in previous employments and for my pension and other savings going forward. His advice and guidance on what I would need for my retirement and how I could achieve that are invaluable. Julian and his team are in regular contact with me and we have a thorough review every 1-2 years, as my circumstances (and the state retirement age!) are changing. Julian and his team allow me to feel in control of my own plans and I have the confidence of being supported by his professional expertise and his enthusiasm and committment to Pensions and Financial planning.

What could they have done better?

It is hard to suggest improvements as I had been looking for some time for an advisor who was not simply a product expert but would be able to look at 'the big picture' of what I had in pensions funds already, how much I could realistically save in the future, and then what I would realistically have to live on when I was ready to retire, and I am so relieved to have found someone who is doing this for me rather than just selling a product!

Julian understood my situation and listened very carefully to what my aims and goals were from a financial point of view. After he collated all the information that he required I was given a very through report with advice on planning for my financial future. We spent time going through the report and any questions that I had were answered well. All charges/fees mentioned in the report were explained to me in a simple way during our meeting. I would say that Julian's knowledge when comes to financial planning is excellent. He takes the time to make sure that every aspect is understood.

Julian gives very sound advice and matches the type of investments made to each client's attitude to risk and stage in their life. He actively manages client portfolios changing investments to keep costs down and to maximise yield. During the 2008 financial problems my investments came through significantly better than the average.
