What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

I needed advice regarding pension provision and specific advice with regard to the Lifetime Allowance. I also needed guidance on investments.

How has Nathan Harris helped you?

Nathan was excellent throughout. He helped me to understand what I needed to know, despite the fact that I knew very little to begin with. His advice was measured, comprehensive and personalised. I always felt he was keen to find out what I needed and then worked to achieve that aim. He enabled me to make major decisions with confidence. Thirty years ago when I retired I had savings I wished to invest and, having no expertise in investing I employed an IFA to advise me. Some ten years later I decided to change my IFA and on the advice of a friend I approached Nathan Harris. By then I had inherited a substantial sum and, following discussion of my objectives with Nathan decided to invite him to become my IFA.

How has Nathan Harris helped you?

Nathan suggested investment platforms which he felt were appropriate to my investment objectives and after discussing these as well as other matters such as my approach to risk he helped me to select one and advised me on the transfer of my portfolio.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Yes, my portfolio has appreciated in line with the level of risk with which I feel comfortable.

What could they have done better?

I feel that the service I receive with regular reviews of the economic outlook and recommendations of switches which demonstrate to me that my portfolio is kept under appraisal is helpful and sufficient to my needs. Nathan made me aware of what could be done and how it would help us all and he put those suggestions into practice. He has recently helped in releasing some capital in order for me to help my other son with some 'bridging' finance. He's always available to discuss issues with me when necessary.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

In the first instance we were looking for someone to help with a mortgage on a new property. Nathan was recommended by a friend. Following on from this I needed advice for a private pension plan to be set up, which again Nathan gave good sound financial advice and the private pension was set up. Recently as I am no 63 I wanted advice on my other various frozen pension funds to make the most of the funds values before I retire again Nathan and his team have set this up for me.

Nathan was very helpful going through the various mortgage options / companies and recommended the final broker we used to finance our new home. Nathan also recommended AVIVA as my private pension company and has supported me by arranging two of my frozen pension funds to be re-invested for (hopefully) a better return in a few years time.

If I am honest I do struggle with my annual tax return which I leave to the last minute every year as I dread completing the same. I'm sure if this was a service the Lothbury Group offered, Nathan could have helped.

How has Nathan Harris helped you?

Nathan talks to me on my level, never makes me feel uncomfortable. I have direct access to a him via a mobile phone whenever I feel I need to discuss something. He has demonstrated amazing skills and confidence, especially over the last few years. He seems to take a very personal interest and so creates a bond of trust. In financial terms, I have never felt more safe or confident. Nathan will always go the extra mile in guidance and explanation through any jargon to ensure that I really know what is happening with my pension.

What could they have done better?

I would appreciate e-mail contact now and then, just to keep in touch, a kind of informal short run down of general performance, other than just the annual reviews. The postal reviews are a bit stuffy, especially if you are a little 'blinded' by numbers.

Nathan has been our family Financial Adviser for the past 6 years. During this time he has offered us timely, astute and comprehensive advise concerning a range of policies and investments to the benefit of our entire family. This has incorporated investments enabling our youngest son to progress through Independent school, our elder sons to study at University, arranging pension funds for each and advice regarding wills. He advises and implements our investments in accordance with our attitude to risk. We are regularly kept up to date with the current situation. He is easily contactable and responds quickly to requests.

What could they have done better?

In so far that he or his colleagues assist with our returns to HMRC, we often seem up against HMRC's deadlines. However, it has to be said that we are sometimes tardy with providing the necessary information.

Nathan is extremely conscientious and delivered advice to us for a wide ranging audience, some of whom (despite advanced years) had never had any dealings with pensions or financial advice. Everyone was left absolutely clear as to their options. Requests for information are always dealt with EXTREMELY promptly and in full - I have never had to chase anything. A scheme was found perfect for our requirements which ensured our transfer costs were zero and ongoing annual fees much lower than anticipated. Personal visits to all our staff and personal communication whenever our staff require it are forthcoming and readily given.

What could they have done better?

I cannot think of anything about Nathan's service that has not been outstanding.

Nathan Harris has been managing my financial affairs since August 2004 when my pension fund matured. The fund had been hit hard by the personal pension mis-selling scandal. At the same time Nathan oversaw a portion of my personal cash savings, converting them to equity ISA investments. Against a background of significant falls in stock market values and wipeout on cash investment returns, his subsequent advice and action has as far as I am concerned delivered outstanding results. I started a small bronze trophy design and manufacturing business 30 years ago and know all about dealing with the effects of recessions and bank failures. Nathan has always been explicit about the best levels of risk appropriate for an account such as mine and maintained a regular, careful and detailed explanation for his planned actions. When asked by a local businessman about his financial affairs being managed by Nathan, I was able to give an unreserved recommendation based on my experience. Keeps our savings working for us at best efficiency to enhance retirement. Reviews the portfolio regularly and instigates changes as he sees fit, keeping us informed about what he is doing by letter. Keeps us aware of inheritance tax changes and methods of dealing with any changes that are needed.

Helped consolidate my various pensions/AVCs. Had confidence that he analysed my circumstances and advised appropriate course of action, which although benefitted him financially, he was very fair in the fees he charged. Developed for me a comprehensive strategy which I like very much. Challenges me on my thinking. Built a strong relationship.

What could they have done better?

I sense there is key man risk with Nathan, I feel behind him there is not much support - I may be wrong. I wonder if he can challenge the platform provider to offer more unconstrained funds - less regional bias, more thematic offers and a greater array of alternatives, frontier etc.
