James drew up several financial forecasts for me based on different retirement dates, accommodation and working options so that I could see when I could comfortably retire based on my pension pot. I wanted to merge an old Equitable Life pension from a previous employer with my last employer's pension and didn't know how to proceed as there were complications with the old pension.

I decided to take advice as I neared 'decision points' which would hopefully allow me to identify an early retirement date. Decisions made in the years up to that date would be critical to my plans and their outcome. I needed a professional financial 'sounding board' who understood my goals and who could advise feasible ways to achieve them.

How has James Espin helped you?

James has been very helpful. I had crunched my own numbers however, not being a financial professional myself, I needed the latest and most up to date guidance from someone like James. We meet once or twice a year in person to discuss our plans and he is always available via other means, as and when is necessary. Any specific requests from me are normally dealt with in a timely fashion.

As we get closer to the desired early retirement date; James and I have tweaked and rescheduled plans to meet my personal aspirations. I expect to continue with this arrangement as it comes to fruition and also beyond to ensure the plans stay on track.

As a customer I think we would all like our adviser to be more proactive on our behalf however, those levels of service are probably a lot more costly than we are willing to pay, and a sensible level of contact and advice must be acceptable to both parties.

He has come back to me with some figures, which were better than ones I had been able to get online. In the light of the new pension rules, I was looking for advice on combing several pension pots that I had built up over my working life and looking for the confidence to give up work and retire.

After going through my finances, James gave me the confidence to retire and looked after the management of my pension pots. I felt that he understood my needs and provided me with a clear breakdown of what he proposed, bot written and orally.

Hi I had thought that the initial consultation was free, however, James did mention towards the end of the conversation that it would be £95. Although I agreed to pay this I do believe it would have been better to mention this immediately and have given

We do offer a free initial consultation where we can meet to see if we are able to help with your requirements. However this meeting is not an advice meeting, which I'm afraid, has to be paid for.

I was introduced to James Espin by my accountant when I enquired with them about how to deal with my pension savings. At that time I thought my only option was to convert my pension savings into a pension plan. I made an initial appointment with James, who came to my home to talk to me, and that started a very productive relationship. James, started by answering my initial question, discussing with me the possibilities of moving my pension savings to another provider who could provide a better pension return. He then opened my eyes to many other options that exist when considering what to do with pension savings. I had no idea before this of the alternatives for investing or recovering pension funds. In the middle of this the budget changed the possibilities for extracting pension savings. I am currently half way through a plan of changing how I handle my pension savings. James has taken all the hassle for me of dealing with the pension companies and, other than agreeing the course of action, I have had very little to do. James has handled everything. In my opinion the work James has undertaken for me has put me into a much more advantageous position with my new pension plan than I had expected. I have always felt he is a person with whom I can discuss my financial situation and receive unbiased, up to date and professional advice from which I can make a decision about the route forward. I would not hesitate to recommend people to contact James to discuss their financial affairs.

James did not encourage me to spend additional money on services I did not require and I was grateful for this.
