I had various private pensions from a long time ago which I needed advice on. I also had an interest only mortgage and was concerned about that.

Russell put my pensions together into a far better plan for me. He gave me sound advice on planning for my financial future. When I mentioned my concerns about an interest only mortgage, he gave me valuable advice to ensure I gradually switched over to a repayment mortgage (I hadn’t realised I could split the mortgage), and this enabled me to eventually pay off my mortgage completely.

Jonathan Thank you for coming into the meeting this week and I am very sorry to have read your comments During the meeting we only very briefly touched on a few points and I would have given you an idea of the fee that we would charge for the work you requested. There was no charge for the meeting and indeed for our next meeting, had we had one, and at that point, once I had a clearer picture, I would have provided you with a detailed report showing our fees payable. All of this would be at our expense with no obligation to move forward and no cost to you. I am a little confused as to why you perceived that I was rude, after 33 years of meeting clients I cannot ever recall a client saying this however clearly you felt this was was the case and I am sorry for that. I was being made Redundant and also offered early retirement. Met with Russell, he discussed the options available to me and provided general advice on how to make my savings generate and income. We agreed on a low to medium risk profile. Russell put together an Investment Planning Recommendation Report portfolio on how to maximise my pension and savings using investment/fund managers. It is too early to provide any feedback. I am happy with the results at the moment and will be meeting up with Russell during 2020 to review. My main aim was to seek advice on generating income from my savings/investments but I do not expect to start see any results for at least 12-18 months.

Russell gave me advice on my tax, my work contract and my pension, as well as my shares and position, rights etc within my business and what I needed to be aware of as a higher income tax payer. Russell essentially gave me a complete health-check of my finances and identified areas that I was not aware of where I could be saving money and also more sensibility look after my finances. I also needed assistance with where to invest and save when I received a pay out which Russell looked after from start to finish for me. My pension scheme had been ticking along in the background for quite a few years and with view to increasing payments and planning more carefully for th e future it felt like a good time to seek some professional advice.

How has Russell Waller helped you?

As well as the pension Russell helped with general advice on how to plan my finances based on being a higher earning tax payer, identifying many areas I had neglected to sense check and had little understanding of meaning I was missing out on pension relief and various other elects where I was not protected, this inlauded mortgage.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Absolutely. As well as very positive progress with the pension I have been able to claim refunds in certain areas that I was due and all finances are now covered whereas before I was open to risk.

I had an income protection plan that I wanted to extend but felt there might be a better product out there, so decided to seek expert advice. After that I wanted to review my retirement savings and get advice on how to extend them.

He found me an equivalent plan with better cover for a lower premium - exactly what i hoped for! He looked at my current pensions and advised me on increasing my voluntary contributions plus the best product to save extra cash in.

We had several meetings in which Russell asked me many questions about my financial situation, my needs and goals. He always took time to explain what we were discussing. I sometimes found this difficult as we were working in areas I do not know much about. I feel this is an ongoing process. I think in the beginning he gave me hope that there was a way through these problems.

I have been happy with his recommendations and the documentation he has provided to date. My cash flow problems have started to ease. I think the the terms of my annuity are far better than I could achieved by myself. At this point in time I'm not clear how much of my estate I will be able to pass onto my son.

Either i was given misinformation or the system doesn't have the correct information about this person as i was under the impression that his financial criteria covers my requirements which clearly did not and it ended up wasting time for both parties. What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

I had some savings in a cash ISA not doing anything so wanted advice going forward of ways better to manage my money, also at 46 years old I had no pension so was looking at options for my old age. We also went through the random insurance policies that I had and reviewed the ones i required and stopped the ones that where not value for money or didnt cover me as i had wanted.

How has Russell Waller helped you?

He advised me to move my ISA over to a Shares ISA where i still had immediate access to my money if required for an emergency etc. Also advised me on a pension (company and private). I also through his company change mortgages to a better rate.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Russel's advice has been clear and at present the outcomes are as Russel advised. I am happy with where my money is and feel that everything is affordable. I have also feel that ive started saving for my future and I have created a target to aim for.

What could they have done better?

Hard to say what could have been better, I had a small understanding of the financial products, so was hard at times for me to fully understand everything at first. Russel is clear and keeps it simple, given good explanations. My own skepticism of being sold products is still there and nothing to do with Russel's manner but i dont feel like ive been trapped or stuck into anything that i cant get change if I am not happy with the products I chose to buy.
