What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

After years of building up assets/deferred benefits in various pension schemes, I needed professional advice on how best to consolidate these as I near retirement.

Simon advised me on how best to consolidate some funds, maintain others and, crucially, how to plan for any tax implications there may be.

When we came to meet Simon Flint we had been very poorly served by a previous advisor in a different company so we were impressed by the very positive service we received when we first contacted 'Robin Bradford Pensions & Investments.' Simon was identified as our named advisor within the company. It was very reassuring to know exactly who we would be dealing with. Simon's interest in our financial welfare and security was very evident from the start. Over the years he has shown wise and proactive oversight of our financial affairs and has done so to the highest calibre. We trust Simon completely and believe that he will continue to keep our interests at the forefront of all the future decision making that may be required. I have already recommended him as a high quality advisor to my son. That should say it all..

What could they have done better?

Simon's service to us has been faultless. However, speaking more generally, the complexities of charges and fees relating to financial services and transactions are extremely challenging for the lay person to comprehend. This is not specific to Robin Bradford or Simon more the whole arena of financial services.

Mr Flint has the ability to listen, digest and then put forward constructive, helpful suggestions. He then follows up the discussion with considered opinions in writing, and once those are discussed again and agreed upon he sets up all that is required to putting the plan into action. This is done without fuss or drama.

Simon Fling is an excellent financial advisor He has the ability to explain simply and clearly to the uninitiated and make what may seem a huge financial problem shrink to the size that can be dealt with . His explainations about any new financial project or any old one are clear and understandable. He has incredible patience and has very broad vision .( For example world markets )and is not bound down by the immediate. He has a great gift of empathy and can grasp family financial problems and deal with them sympathetically and maintains confidentiality

Simon has earned my trust and professional respect over many years by providing me with financial advice that has proved to be consistently dependable. In my view, his advice has always been very well matched to my changing situation, including an unplanned early retirement due to a disabling medical condition. Simon strikes a seemingly rare balance between high technical knowledge, and high interpersonal skills. He has the ability to convey potentially complex information in a straightforward, understandable way which is pitched at a good level to keep the key messages memorable. I am very happy with the value and quality of service, and - in my view - the reasonable charges, considering the expertise provided. In stark contrast, I feel that my experiences with various financial advisers used in the previous two decades (mainly large organisations) have been more negative than positive.

What could they have done better?

Ideally, the detail-intensive paperwork process involved in a personal financial review could be simplified and streamlined. However, I do understand that regulatory requirements impose certain constraints. During each review, the quantity of information, statistics, and client choices could become potentially bewildering (but all credit to Simon for ensuring that this doesn't become so).

Simon offers a friendly, approachable service, responding immediately to any queries and patiently taking the time to explain the financial implications of the advice he is giving. He regularly reviews my finances, ensures that he keeps abreast of my family circumstances thus considering all the implications of my situation - dependents, future expenses etc - and is not afraid to tactfully rein me back when I am danger of overspending! He previously advised my late grandmother regarding her financial affairs and is currently a tremendous source of support and good sound advice for my mother.

I have know Simon for a couple of years now and he has helped me transform my investment portfolio. I would not have been able to be in this position without his advice.
