How has Paul Cleworth helped you?

Paul has been my IFA for almost 4 years now. His wealth of knowledge is excellent and I particularly value the bi-annual financial reviews where we cover every aspect of my financial planning. The Risk assessed approach to Pension planning and the broad access to markets that Paul can provide means I don't have to constantly check and tweak my investments myself. I can highly reccomend Paul and his approach to Wealth Management.

What could they have done better?

The amount of infomration that is provided can sometimes seem a little daunting so I would reccomend that people take time to read everything before any face to face meetings to ensure Paul can focus on the key areas you want to discuss.

I have used Paul services for over 3 years now and I am very happy with the results. Paul and his staff are always very helpful and respond to emails and calls in a very timely manner. How has Paul Cleworth helped you?

Paul is brilliant at making you focus on the task in hand. He encourages you to think deeply about what you want to achieve in regard to your finances and then uses that information to let you know how close to the targets you are, year after year. He often revisits those targets to confirm that they remain true. Paul pushes investment in the tax free savings that are available, topping up ISA's is his big thing! He is a genuine, likeable person. We trust him and we trust his judgement when it comes to financial decisions. He is always happy to discuss situations that arise along the way. If he can't help with a particular issue, he often knows someone who can. His recommendations on people have always been good. We do not envisage trusting our financial future to anyone else.

What could they have done better?

Paul knows his stuff inside out and occasionally I have to ask him to explain something to me again so that I can understand it. Having said that, Paul does then go out of his way to ensure we always fully understand something if at first we looked confused! On the flip he knows his stuff so well, and because of that instills so much confidence, that you can't really complain!

Sometimes it is unclear which specific ares of finance come under the service provided as often in a desire to be helpful he helps us with answers to almost any financial question we come up with. Paul does his best to recommend products where the charging structure is clear and transparent. Even with the best providers though, the charging structure on financial products is complicated. Not really a criticism of Paul but the industry could still do better.

It is important to have an advisor who takes all aspects of your financial situation into account as well as your future aspirations and then configure them into a viable package to suit. It is something that Paul Cleworth excels at As with many advisors whatever was originally set up remains the same but with Paul this is reviewed annually . It may seem that some of the questionnaires seem immaterial but surprisingly they turn out to be very apt, revealing more about your financial requirements than you could ever imagine ! As with most people their investment or the advice they receive must suit their needs not that of the advisor, this is probably the most important aspect of the way Paul works. As with all investments risk is a major aspect, but we felt we were happy to take Paul's advice in the knowledge it was being looked after and not being exposed to excessive risks in accordance with our portfolio requirements.

What could they have done better?

Sometimes Paul can be so animated about the subject of 'Finance" that he speeds off onto a "Financial Roller Coaster" and it's hard sometimes to keep up with. It might be one aspect of his exuberance that could perhaps be modified, so as a layman you don't get lost.

Paul has been my adviser for two years. His investment philosophy is to spread widely across asset classes and countries using low-charge tracker funds. I like this approach; it's easy to understand and follow, and gives good results. I have valued and enjoyed my meetings with Paul. His advice is always thoughtful and straightforward and allows me to take a few steps back from my financial affairs and plan for my family's future with confidence and conviction. Paul's advice reaches beyond financial matters and will happily recommend everything from a builder to holidays! Good financial advisers are hard to find but Wealth Matters provides good advice with complete transparency on fees. I also like the fact Wealth Matters is managed/owned by Paul and Julian and they care deeply about their business and you will deal with them and not assigned someone after the initial client take-on.

What could they have done better?

Whilst this works for us, some might prefer an 'active' approach in the way they manage client assets. Assets are managed through the use of tracker funds which are cheap to own but there will be, therefore, a diminished chance of out or under performance verses benchmark indicies.

Paul is thorough and goes above and beyond the call of duty to respond asap, e.g. answering my queries whilst on his family holiday. The responses to all my queries are always in a very full manner, with all the information I need to make an informed decision. As well as sound advice from Paul, there is a great team that support him and assist in getting everything delivered in a timely manner as and when required. I have given only given 3* on 'Value for money' as I haven't compared them to any other financial advisors, giving 5* would be wrong without making a genuine comparison.
