Initially we were with another adviser, and after a few years he took retirement himself. Casey / TFP took over his clients, and subject to an initial consultation, we signed up with Casey.

Casey has been an immense help to us with our financial portfolio. He has a very relaxed style, and is a very good listener. During consultations the initial period is spent on catching up with our news and circumstances, and helps you relax. It is only later on that we go into more detail about our immediate financial requirements, and the performance of our portfolios. Never any pressure, always willing to listen to what we have to say.
Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?
Definitely. 5 years ago I gave Casey permission to talk to all of my pension providers, and with their feedback he gave me that delightful light bulb moment - I could retire at 59! It was a most amazing moment, and at the time difficult to digest. I had worked nearly 41 years, and had never thought about what age I would retire. Always in the zone, always in the same life routine. Nearly 5 years later - do I miss work? No. Do I miss commuting? No. Do I miss the stress and worry? Definitely not!
What could they have done better?
Not sure if this is applicable to Casey. Yes, my wife and I give him friendly grief about the level of charges. But what do you want to achieve in life? And could you do it without a financial adviser? Everyone's circumstances are different, and this applies to finance as well. Pensions and investments knowledge, and what is best for you can be a minefield to sort out yourself. Professional advice and management of finances does come at a cost, they don't work for free. However if you are given reassurance, friendly advice based on professional knowhow and peace of mind then the professional fees you pay might be the best money you have ever spent.

Initially the pension was looked after by a different advisor who merged his business with TFP. We met Casey at that time as he was a specialist in Pensions and was fully accredited under the then new regulations to provide specialist advice in many areas.

Despite working in the wholesale financial markets for over 35 years, getting to grips with my retirement options as I approach 55 was a bit daunting. I made a few calls to the pension companies myself and found I was getting passed around departments , and then waiting weeks for a letter that didn't answer my query .
How has Casey Mills helped you?
I was lucky in finding Casey Mills at TFP , he set out my current arrangements with updated valuations and invaluable policy specific information that only a professional would know to uncover. All this information was set against the background of the new pensions flexibility and the various tax pitfalls. I think it’s fair to say that with the new flexibility, policyholder requests for information has risen exponentially and admin departments at Insurance companies and trustees are struggling to keep up ,and as such you may not get all the relevant information you need. Without Caseys outstanding professionalism and incredible tenacity , I would not have the full picture and probably a lot less flexibility. No hesitation at all in recommending Casey and TFP.

Casey Mills very quickly grasped the concept of our requirement and put forward positive potential scenarios which developed the concepts into working models. These clearly demonstrated how we could achieve our goals. Working through and clearly explaining the pros and cons of the various options gave us absolute confidence in choosing the option that best suited our requirements. In my business life i have consulted with both my accountants and bank on a number of financial planning issues and neither achieved giving me the confidence to move forward with them - and that did leave me with a negative view of 'financial advisors'. I am pleased to say that feeling has changed to a positive largely due to the relationship that has developed with Casey Mills and his team. Straight forward qualities of listening and understanding and backed by the knowledge to advise and achieve a given plan is what i expect and i have finally found a colleague that can deliver. No doubts in forwarding my recommendations.
What could they have done better?
What could my advisor do better? That's a tough question and i struggle to clearly identify from my experience what could have been handled better. I do know however that if i did raise an issue that needed addressing then it would be taken very seriously.

He understood my personal situation (marriage separation) and related very well for my need s for myself and children in the future years. Explained all risks and possible reward during pension and investment planning whist understanding the levels of security needed.
What could they have done better?
Possibly offer a larger/longer time frame for decision making. My separation was not my doing and whilst filing for divorce as the petitioner; and negotiating mediation and the legal meetings with solicitors , the timeframe drags on and takes far longer and sometimes becomes more stressful throughout. Before you know-it; a month or two timeframe maybe offered, is on top of you again, already.

Casey always gives clear advice and explanations to any questions I ask. With the budget changes regarding pensions, Casey arrived at my home fully able to explain and advise on all the points I wanted to clarify and I was able to plan ahead on the advice he gave. I always receive, by post, a written summary of all we discussed. Casey listens to our hopes and plans and advises accordingly. Excellent service.
