Mark comes across as an intelligent, honest, confident and all round nice guy with a clear idea of where he wants to go in the industry. He still has some way to go with qualifications but he recognises this and is seeking advancement. I was impressed with Mark's knowledge and commitment and I am confident he will achieve his goals. Mark was the first adviser that I spoke to and before deciding whether or not to use his services I need to speak to other advisers to get a more rounded opinion but so far Mark looks good.

Takes the hassle and worry of often confusing technical details and communicates them in a manor that is easy to understand. He seems to go above and beyond what you would expect, making his services available to you day and night. His biggest attribute in my opinion is his ability to guide you though the process in an incredibly open and friendly way, at no point making you feel your affairs are not being handled to the highest standards.

Mark has an excellent approach to clients, investing plenty of time up front in really understanding our situation and our aspirations. He then prepared a comprehensive pack explaining the recommended products which a layman could understand. The home visits were also a welcome touch given our young family.

What could they have done better?

The fees that we paid for setting up the products were fair and good value. They could have been signposted more clearly through the early discussion, possibly with reference to sector averages given it was the first time we have paid fees of this nature.

We approached Mark, upon a friends recommendation, when we decided to purchase our first home. We explained to Mark that we had limited knowledge of the finances involved, and that we were seeking professional, reliable advice. From the start, Mark was thorough in his explanations; he left no stone unturned in terms of our understanding, and was patient during times when we needed further guidance. Mark talked to us about our finances, and the "affordability" of a mortgage. He explained how the mortgage should fit around our lifestyle and not consume all of our incoming cash each month. He arranged our mortgage with Halifax after detailing the many options available to us as first time buyers, also making us aware of our options at every point. Mark suggested some solicitors to us too, which we used, and were very happy with. The purchase of our property took 6 months in total; far longer than we expected considering there was no chain either end! The main issues where with the seller of the property, so it was out of our hands. Mark supported us through every twist and turn and was always at the other end of the phone or an email when needed, even late at night or at weekends. Mark also put us in touch with our home insurance provider, and helped us to set up our life insurance and critical illness cover, again the advice we received was completely impartial and professional, we never felt obliged or pressured into any decision we made and we can't thank Mark enough for that. He certainly made purchasing our first home less stressful than it could have been. I would (and have) recommend Mark to my closest friends and family.

What could they have done better?

Mark really does have all the bases covered. Speaking from the perspective of a first time buyer, I couldn't have asked for anything more. Communication was excellent, I really can't see areas to improve at this point.

Mark always responded immediately to any issue I had. Very easy to get along with and so made the stressful part of buying a house a lot easier. Mark provided a number of quotes and illustrations based on a detailed understanding of our requirements and financial situation, he talked us through each and made sure we fully understood our options allowing us to make an informed decision. He kept us regularly upated throughout the process of our applications which was particularly beneficial in respect of our mortgage. We chose to use an adviser rather to avoid the hassle of dealing with several companies to find suitable insurance products and to make sure we weren't choosing inadequate policies as a result of our own inexperience. Mark exceeded our expectations and made the whole process straight forward and stress free. I couldn't recommend him highly enough.

What could they have done better?

We genuinely couldn't suggest an improvement - we took life and income protection as well as a mortgage based on Mark's advice and are completely satisfied with what he's done for us.
