What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

Buy to Let Mortgages.

How has Chris Hall helped you?

Found the best deals. Handled all our paperwork (proof of income, source of funds, proof of ID etc). We could fill in one form for Chris and he would use this with all the different providers saving us a huge amount of time over what it would have taken if we had applied individually. He was also very fast turning around requests and chased the providers to make sure they kept up with the speed of the transactions.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Yes, we now have a portfolio of buy to let properties, all with mortgages arranged by Chris and I am now seeking Chris' expertise in some protection insurance.

A member of the team from Chris Halls called and left a Vouice mail as I was unable to answer at the time . They followed this up with an email asking when it would be convenient to call. I confirmed 1:30 pm onward and i never received a call or further communication from them again .

Chris was extremley professional in making me understand the correct mortgage that best suited not only my current lifestyle but my future financial aims and goals. Chris focused on my mortgage goals and made informed proposals for my consideraton based upon helping me acheiving my goals. Chris has a very friednly and personal approach which made me feel appreciated and that both Chris and his organisation had my interests as the number 1 priority and not focusing on their own gains. The after service was fantatic too. Chris and his colleagues were regulary in contact with myself throughout the end to end renewal process. Chris held our hands from our very first appointment 18 months ago till now, where we are finally buying a home. We've had lots of ups and downs and had a purchase fall through but Chris and his team have been helpful and efficient and have done all the chasing up for us, this has been the smoothest house buying transaction we've ever had ( house move number 5).

Firstly, Chris was recommended to us and we are glad he was. Having someone knowledgeable and trustworthy takes all the pain out of arranging a mortgage. As we were in a fast paced housing market, we needed fast responses and mortgage offers to ensure we were taken seriously by agents. Chris reacted fast to provide these for us. He was friendly yet professional and provided us with all the information we required in a clear and straight forward manor. I was happy to experience that the staff in his company also shared the same personal and friendly approach and it felt like a family rather than individuals. If you want a great mortgage deal, and all the hassle removed - then use Chris.

I have worked with Chris to purchase my second property. Over the course of two years he first helped me plan the most optimal way to unlock the best rate and then nearer purchase time tracked the market to apply for our product at the best time possible. He is honest, full of knowledge and approached my situation with an open mind.

What could they have done better?

Chris has an active team working for him who helped us through what was a lenghly purchase. My only constructive suggestion is for the team to be more proactive in leading the client through each step of the process. Sometimes I was unaware of what was the important next step.

We used FirstXtra as first time buyers in 2007; the service we received by Alan Hall was excellent. He advised us on the best mortgage for our circumstances and life cover/critical illness cover. In 2014 we wanted to re-mortgage and was offered another suitable mortgage by Chris Hall. We had a meeting with Chris and provided all the information for the re-mortgage, and he quickly responded with mortgage offers.

What could they have done better?

During the meeting with Chris we expressed our interest in getting more life insurance cover, pensions and a will. However Chris never came back to us with any further information or update on his progress. I had just claimed for critical illness on our life insurance and Chris was going to look into options for me because of this. This never happened. We were delayed on taking the mortgage out by a few weeks and missed the first offer- when I checked through the mortgage agreement for the second offer I noticed there was now a fee which I had specifically said I did not want, and was not part of the first offer. I had concerns about the lack of communication because of this.

I have been advised by Chris Hall for the last nine years, totalling four mortgages. I have returned to Chris each time as I found him extremely easy to talk to about the various options available to me which helps to make the whole process painless. His honest and open approach has given me the confidence and trust needed when making these types of decisions and I have always felt I have come away with the best deal.

What could they have done better?

There is not much I can think of as constructive criticism, except that on one occasion when I visited him at the office for a quick meeting I didn't get a coffee.
