My wife were looking for advise on our investments.

Neil asked us a number of questions to enable him to help us make the right choices on monthly pension payments etc.

Yes our investments are going very well.

What could they have done better?

I don't think Neil could do much more for us to be fair he even comes to our home when its required for yearly updates and reviews.

Listens to our needs. Provides very good guidance, taking into account our risk taking assessments. Provides guidance on tax saving measures.

What could they have done better?

In the first month of investing, several changes to invested funds ( Standard Life Wrap Account) were recommended. This was slightly concerning to us as investment novices. Since then our investments have performed well and the guidance we have received from Neil has been excellent.

Neil sat down with us at home and explained everything we had enquired about. He was easy to understand and gave excellent advice. He went through everything step by step, always checking we were on the same page and that he understood our goals and attitude to risk.

Understands your finances in the context of an understanding of life. Listens, responds, comments appropriately. Tells you when you're talking rubbish. Very trustworthy, hard to remember you are paying him, it's more like chatting with a friend, who happens to know much more than you do about finance.

What could they have done better?

Totally happy. However I'd comment that the star ratings above do not allow accurate rating. The criteria emphasise that you should have compared prices with other advisors (emphasising HAVE). So if you've not compared, you can only give two stars. I haven't as I TRUST him, have worked with the company for many years, and never been let down. You do not necessarily have to have directly compared prices to assess value for money. In addition Q6 below is Household income, is Q3 Household or individual? Doesn't seem to be clear to me, and the need to include pensions could be much more obvious, lucky I spotted it.

How has Neil Cowie helped you?

Over the years we have had a number of financial advisers. My wife and I both feel that he is the best with one or two that didn't rank at all. He tries to sense our needs and to meet them, which is most important. It helps that he works with those who help with our tax affairs. Above all, he has a knowledge of the market but doesn't claim to be a miracle man and he is someone we feel that we can trust when it comes to advice.

What could they have done better?

We have already asked for the format of some procedures to be changed and it is to his credit that we have no need to repeat them here.
