What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

Following divorce:Ex husband was an accountant and I needed help to sort the divorce financial settlement.

How has George Utting helped you?

Provided wise council and successfully guided me on a range of financial investments and procedures.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Yes. Pension and investments have both been well managed and work with the inheritance tax elements have particularly set my mind at rest.

What could they have done better?

Am very pleased so "nothing".George Utting is always gets back to me or is"at the end of the phone"to answer any questions I may have,however simple. Dealing diect with my F.A. rather than someone in their office team is very important to me

As we all experience in life sometimes things happen, our circumstances lead to us needing Investment and Pension advice so we sought this from our contacts and it was suggested we should work with George. This has been proven to have been a good fit for us. We have always found George to be very approachable and down to earth, he is able to explain products to people with differing levels of knowledge of Finance.

How has George Utting helped you?

My adviser gives me the confidence that he knows a great deal about my financial position: he regularly reviews with me my attitude to risk: he ensures I have an understanding of what my finances are capable of providing me with; he manages my tax affairs. He is always approachable, patient and effective in helping me to understand what options I have. He is encouraging and supportive of any concerns I have. We meet twice a year which is vitally important to my sense of security.

What could they have done better?

I sometimes wait for longer than I would like to get responses to emails. It is rarely vital as I could always pick up the phone if I felt it was urgent. I find the paperwork cumbersome and confusing but that probably says more about me than my advisor. However what id does mean is that I do not involve myself in the detail of my investments portfolio. This has not been troublesome to date but I do feel occasionally that I should have a better understanding of the detail. The information provided by the Financial Services Industry as a whole does not make it easy. My advisor is very good at providing me with a summary position in a way that I can understand - mostly!

He is also very good at explaining not only the alternatives but also his reasoning behind his recommendations. How has George Utting helped you?

I have found George to be what I would term the 'complete package' . He begins by making himself fully conversant with the needs and requirements of his client. He then does a large amount of research into all the products that deliver these needs and requirements and, then, by means of regular personal visits, he advises and discusses these products to ensure the best end result. The client's portfolio is under constant review and great care is taken to ensure the client is fully aware of performance, changes and any need for further action. A top man! I find George to be always very professional but at the same time his services are delivered with that all-important personal touch.

What could they have done better?

I'm not really sure what George could do better......perhaps if I were, I would be looking after my own financial affairs.

Advice is always clearly given with reasons, and backed up with full documentation, after thorough discussion with me to assess the balance between my attitude to risk and preferences, all of which inspires great confidence. Everything is expressed in terms that even I can understand. Value for money seems excellent, only reason I didn't give the full five stars for this is because I don't know enough about what other IFAs charge to be able to say it's the best. But charges are very reasonable and fair, and are clearly explained before any work is agreed upon. Overall - highly recommended.

How has George Utting helped you?

George Utting has been our Financial Advisor for twenty years or more (not sure exactly how long) and his task is to invest our capital so that we have a regular income from these investments. His advice over the years has managed to provide a good income whilst retaining our capital as well as possible. He has suggested that we reposition our money as we get older and our situation changes. We are in this transition at the moment and do not know how this has affected the situation, but time will reveal this in the near future. We have been happy with all the advice that he has given us, especially as it got us through the financial crisis of recent years. If we have a concern we either telephone or email and George reacts immediately.

What could they have done better?

We do not think that there is anything that he could do better as our portfolio as the aim is quite straightforward.
