We had retirement funds and maturing cash ISA's to invest, Marcus has provided a timely and friendly service and is always available and approachable. The only reason I have not gone for 5 stars is because we have only just completed our first year which has been somewhat unprecedented due to Covid 19. However not withstanding the Covid pandemic Marcus has always made himself available to provide advise.

Marcus carried out an initial review of our circumstances and financial position. He then made various investment options available and carried out numerous transfers from other investments.

Marcus went through the different options available regarding changing 2 mortgages I had and also gave me sound advice in other areas. He was able to offer solutions where other Mortgage advisers had failed. I have since returned for subsequent product transfers.

Divorce. My wife unexpectedly walked out and became set on divorce. In order to provide for her and retain my home, I needed to re-mortgage the house for a substantial sum. Being self employed, taking out any loan, let alone one on this scale, is never straightforward even when your income more than meets the requirements.

How has Marcus Rees helped you?

Early on with advice about the options, the scale of likely loans, all of which could be included in the documents submitted to the court during the divorce process. The outcome, and therefore scale of the necessary loan, was always unpredictable since it depended on negotiations or a judge's ruling, but Marcus Rees' support helped me to understand what was possible.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Yes. I have kept the house, which is my place of work and home. It also means that my son will get to sleep in the same room he has known since he was tiny on those days each week that he is with me. Security and reassuring surroundings for him are vital at a time like this. I have a mortgage that is substantial, but affordable, extending over a time period which will allow me to repay it comfortably.

What could they have done better?

Nothing. Marcus was always quick to reply to any queries, even though there were plenty of these during the complex process of dealing with solicitors and liaising with my accountants.

Marcus was extremely efficient and understanding about the financial advice I needed and extremely efficient in helping me access the financial services I needed. He was also extremely pleasant to do business with. I will certainly recommend his expert service to my friends and family.

Was in contact with Marcus for around a week and as a first time buyer, much of the process was new to me. When I contacted to get a mortgage in principle in place, I was told it would only take a day so there was no rush and I could start looking at houses. When then contacting an estate agent to make an offer on a house I did like, I was told that without the mortgage in principle the offer wouldn’t be accepted. As a result, I’ve found another advisor who managed to get me a mortgage in principle in 10minutes, as opposed to more than a week that it took Marcus. The new advisor also took extra time to explain everything to me, which I do not feel Marcus did.

Chloe this is rather unfair. You hadn't viewed any houses when we spoke last week and therefore did not know how much you needed to borrow although you had a rough idea. I went through affordability with a number of lenders and confirmed how much I though you could get. You rang me on Saturday of the bank holiday and said you liked a house you had seen and I confirmed that we would get a decision in principle first thing when the office opened on Tuesday. The estate agents would have been closed anyway on Sunday and Monday so you would not have been disadvantaged. Marcus

After living abroad for ten years my wife and I were relocating back to the UK and required a mortgage. Since we were not UK resident at the time and the majority of my income was paid in foreign currency we were having great difficulty finding a mortgage company willing to lend to us.

Marcus understood our circumstances and requirements and quickly found a building society willing to give us a mortgage. During the application process everything was explained to us very clearly. Marcus and his colleagues took care of most and of the paperwork. The most important thing is they secured the outcome we were looking for.

We were successful in getting the mortgage we needed and in less time than anticipated. We now have a fantastic family home and enjoying life in a beautiful English village not far from where we grew up. The mortgage product was not the cheapest on the market but given our circumstances it was explained that our choices were limited. We are happy with it and believe it suits our needs.

Marcus and the team at Romilly helped me by arranging the transfer of my pension away from my employer scheme. This was a large and complex transfer where the freedom legislation introduced only two years ago was pretty new to all concerned.
