What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

To consolidate our various pensions and possible early retirement. We had been waiting for help from our bank and it had taken too long and a recommendation led us to Russell.

How has Russell Tonks helped you?

We felt confident that our needs and aims were completely understood. He thoroughly looked at our position and showed us that we could achieve our dream of early retirement.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Russell has helped us to make sense of our pensions, which we could never have done alone. He has steered us through reams of paperwork, explaining at length as needed. We now have our dream in sight in the near future.

What could they have done better?

Nothing other than a warning of the amount of paperwork to wade through! He has done a great job so far. We look forward to a long association with him.

Starting a family made me realise I needed to sort out insurance and protection for myself.

Russell was recommended as someone who was already familiar with financial aspects of another member of the family and that family member was already completely satisfied with his advice and way of working.

Russell took time to assess my individual circumstances and current attitudes before recommending any course of action. He found an appropriate course of action which is tailored for my long term interests and made sure I understood this fully before proceeding.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

The tailored course of action was not rushed but allowed me to appreciate in broad terms the principles of the plans before confirming the go-ahead. Currently it is too early to assess the benefits.

What could they have done better?

I am completely happy with the course of action and under the circumstances as they stand, difficult to see how this could be improved. I also appreciate Russell's action in obtaining the services of a compatible investment specialist as an essential element of his plan.

How has Russell Tonks helped you?

I first met Russell in his professional capacity approx. 8 years ago when he was working for a major high street bank and he was assigned to advise me on some of my investments. After several years, when my investments had reached a certain level he was forced by "internal policies" to hand over management of my affairs to another department. and l subsequently, and unfortunately, again due to "internal policies" lost contact with him. During those years mentioned above l always found that Russell delivered a personal service of the highest quality and he was always ready to take as much time as was needed to explain, in as much depth, and easy to understand language as was needed for me to grasp the often complicated intricacies of certain/many aspects of the financial world. So when l was made aware that he was now working as an Independent Financial Adviser l immediately decided to return to him for advice and guidance on my investments. I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone who asked me.

How has Russell Tonks helped you?

Russell is an experienced professional financial advisor who gave sound advice appropriate to my wife and I's situation as pensioners. His approach to people with disabilities is excellent. Appropriate products were recommended to us as cautious investors, the products made best use of our low income tax situation. His charges too are reasonable and to some extent flexible as to the level of service offered. We can highly recommend this personable man.

Provides information and advice at a level that we are able to comprehend based on our financial knowledge, in fact he is the first person I have felt comfortable with discussing our personal financial matters and allowed to invest our money.

What could they have done better?

Early days but I guess only time and how our investments grow will be an indication of his effectiveness. From a personal point of view my main interest now is how much our investments are now worth and how much they have grown since we commenced our investment. Unfortunately I guess financial regulations do not allow this information to be given in such simplistic terms.

After bad investment advise from a leading financial institution lead us to suffer a monetary loss,our view of the financial world was very dented. Friends told us to talk to Russell.Despite our initial cynicism we were soon won over by his easy manner, professionalism and most of all patience.He took an in depth look at our circumstances and explained what was available to us .He was happy to cover this to us again and again until we were fully satisfied we had taken everything in. This took place over several meetings and after each meeting we had a written feedback to refer to. We have been with Russell now for 4 years and have no hesitation in recommending him to anyone else.

Pensions are a minefield we have been left with several over the years and knowing what to do with them is difficult. I have know Russell for a number of years and trust his judgement and know he would help me make decisions that were right for both myself and my husband. Leaving suspended pensions uncared for can cause them not to do the best they can. Russell has now enabled us to move them together in a fighting fit fund. We have already grown the fund enough to cover the cost of advice and I feel at peace knowing he always keeps an eye on everything. He revisits us and his advice, I would recommend him to anyone.
