What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

Having a pension about to start which included a lump sum component. I was aware that Mr Amos was a IFA as we have met socially in the past and retained contact.HeH

He illustrated options and types of investment options and some of the limitations of various ones. He also provided ideas on how to more usefully manage other savings I already had in hand.

I have seen beneficial results in the actions I took using his advice.

I cannot see what else I might have done to be consistent with the levels of risks I am prepared to accept.

We had a large sum in the bank that was making very little interest.

Based on the present financial situation the outcome is not what we hoped. However i am hoping that this will change in the future when the political & world economical situations are resolved.

Peter Amos could not have done anything better for us.He put a lot of effort in finding the most suited investments & our pensions.

A few up and downs due to the economic climate, but generally over the years returns have been acceptable.

Peter provided me with comprehensive advice on how I should treat my pension pots, amalgamating some and leaving others untouched.

I am very satisfied with the performance of the investments that Peter recommended although some of the funds have been adversely affected by the recent downturn in the global investment markets.

I first met Peter when he looked after my parents financial affairs, unfortunately circumstances changed in February last year and I’ve been relying on Peters advice since regarding my parents investments.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

Our financial affairs have been looked after for many years by advisers - usually with financial organisations. Peter Amos was one such person and took over our portfolio about 10 years ago. He sorted out what was a rather muddled set of investments and then when he went independent we decided to stay with him because his advice and management of our financial affairs was excellent and moving into retirement we wanted someone we could trust to handle our finances.

How has Peter Amos helped you?

Peter has always been extremely thorough in his research and finding the best options for dealing with our finances. He sorted out and simplified a muddled portfolio and as our circumstances have changed, has been excellent in the advice he has given. Many organisations are difficult to deal with as an individual, but Peter has never let this deter him from getting an answer and providing appropriate advice - always sorting out the paperwork when decisions have been made. He is very approachable and happy to explain things.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Yes. We found previous advisers tended to be rather too complicated and their plans difficult to understand. Peter Amos did a lot of work to sort this out and make everything simpler to understand but without losing the value of the investments. Over the years he has maintained this approach and his advice has always been very sound.

What could they have done better?

Nothing springs to mind - we are comfortable with the ongoing service he provides.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

Having a number of pensions with previous employers and current employer at the time of introduction to Peter Amos not providing an occupational pension, therefore wishing to consolidate and commence own pension savings. Similarly at a later date advising my husband as he approached State pension age and also having one or two small pensions from previous employers becoming payable.

How has Peter Amos helped you?

He took a considerable amount of paperwork from me, reviewed all of it, contacted all providers to obtain values and options available. He looked at our joint outgoings/incomings/liabilities etc. Met with us individually and together to discuss aspirations, how to manage our joint incomes more tax efficiently. Also how to maximise our income and direct what we could afford to more efficient savings. Considered carefully our attitudes to saving/spending/future ambitions. He has also always made best efforts to minimise charges and has undertaken a considerable amount of work for no reimbursement.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Yes, the SIPPs we each now have in place are doing very well in difficult market conditions.

What could they have done better?

Difficult to provide a constructive answer here as we have only really dealt with Peter so not in a position to say how, say, he might compare with other financial advisers so therefore do not really know if he could have done better or not as there is nothing to judge against.

I was needing more specialised advise - & was advised to look for a IFA (Independent Financial Advisor). I had known Peter previously from the bank & thus came highly recommended.

He 'steered me' in the right direction with regards advise concerning a Pension Plan etc.

Indeed I have. Had it not have been for Peter's advise all those years ago, I would not have been in such a financially stable position as I currently am. Thanks to his advise, my financial affairs in looking rosy!

I honestly do not think that Peter could have provided any more help & advise than he already did & continues to do. I cannot praise his expertise highly enough & he has a way whereby he explains the complicated processes of finance - in a simple way that's easy to understand for those less educated in these areas.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

I was a young person with a limited knowledge of financial planning. I was also perplexed with so much out there. It was too easy to get lost in a forest of providers, jargon and potential returns, I ended up doing nothing and losing out. I needed a trusted, un-pushy, consultative Financial Adviser.

How has Peter Amos helped you?

Peter understands me. He gets to know you right down to your football team! This has led Peter to earn my trust. I felt his advice was based on me, not on his product offering. It was my interests first not his. This led me through the forest of financial services to some products that I feel are like a tailored suit.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Yes. Year on year growth both in terms of cover and pension value. But it is all done within the parameters I personally am comfortable with. I do not feel stupid asking questions of Peter so as a result, he has exceeded expectations. This is simply down to understanding the person and matching me to things he knows I would love. Other IFA's may have the same knowledge level, but do not focus enough on me and force me in a pigeon hole rather than making the hole around me.

What could they have done better?

I honestly can say Peter personally cannot of done better. I am genuinely satisfied with his advice and services. On a note of feedback, it would be nice to have an online portal with all my products with him in one place being an avid technology user. That would save me shifting through mail physically. It would also be good as well as it will remind to do things and contact Peter more.

As person, Pete is considerate, compassionate and very trustworthy. As a Finance professional, he considers all the options and ensures that you are 100% happy with the recommendation he has made. If this means explaining it more than once, he will do that. His plans and recommendations fit me like a good suit I am still impressed with how his products perform and fit my ongoing needs. I highly recommend Peter as he is NOT the typical IFA. He truly sees your relationship as a life long partnership, one that I am happy to endorse to others - do not miss out!

What could they have done better?

It is hard to give any criticism as genuinely, I have no complaints. His communication is good, he is not bothersome and puts my needs first. I do struggle to criticize him. I suppose, in the early days I used to not understand why he went into the depth he does which I thought was a "long" process. But to be honest, looking back, I am glad he does take his time as these things he is dealing with affect your life and possibly your whole life, I appreciate that he does take time in considering it!
