What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

I had various savings and pension plans and wanted to be sure that the money was in the right place, both for growth and future security.

How has Martin Newton helped you?

Martin has been helping me for nearly 10 years and in that time I have seen growth in my investments.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

I am now retired with a small part-time job and currently am not having to draw down on my investments.

What could they have done better?

Possibly a short report on what was discussed, especially the outcomes. Everything makes sense when it is being discussed but something in writing would always help to crystallise things.

In 2009 I started my own business and asked Martin for advice on protection I would need in the event of Critical Illness or worse...... Martin understood my circumstances well - he too owns and operates his own business so understands the pressures. He explains his advice in a down to earth, straight forward way.

Martin is a fountain of knowledge for all things financial, however, in this particular occasion, Martin has provided me with great advice regarding saving to buy a house and what i need to do in order to get the best value mortgage. He has put together a plan, with goals that I need to aim for each month in terms of savings, which has been exactly what I needed. I couldn't recommend Martin enough for all his help.

Martin's services have always been of the highest standard. He continues to provide the best advice and if there's something he's not 100% sure of or uncomfortable his addresses it to make sure he does in future. To conclude, Martin has always done what he says he's going to do and always to an exceptional standard. so much so that I actually recommend him to colleagues, friends and family which is something I do not do often

To date I have not identified any shortcomings in the services that Martin has provided. I have given him a number of challenges and problems that he's always grasped and delivered an exceptional service for me.

Explains options, with guidance re risk levels, and responds quickly and clearly with questions posed. When asked for action re encashing part of the investment portfolio the response was quick. Keeps contact and periodically re-visits actions taken to improve investment value and income. At first contact he went through our position and advised on risk options. He reviewed our situation and our plans and wishes regarding investment and the availability of encashment of these options. Overall a balanced option was brought back to us at a later date for discussion, queries and resolution.

What could they have done better?

Perhaps a more frequent cycle of contact (this is partly our fault also) and raising further investment options as appropriate.

Martin was on-time for the appointment, very professional and courteous but above all his advice was fantastic. We needed 2 mortagages - one for a rental property and another for our own home. Martin source 2 excellent products and we ended up with very good packages. The whole process was perfect from start to finish and every expectation was fulfilled. We will have no hesitation in using Martin again; in fact, he is coming to see us tonight regarding our ISAs.

Martin has provided me with health insurance for the last 4 years. He has consistently been extremely competitive when it comes to renewal prices and is always easy to talk to. Martin is proactive, friendly and always simplifies everything and makes it easy for me to understand. Martin works hard to find me the best quote possible and provides a number of quotes, explains each one and then makes a recommendation. Martin is extremely trustworthy and I would recommend him to anyone looking to renew any policies or looking to make financial investments.
