As I had just turned 55 I wanted to take advantage of the pension freedoms and take 25% tax free from my pension. As my pension was a final salary pension I was unable to do this and my only option was to transfer to a private pension. If your pension pot is over £30,000 it is a requirement to take financial advice and this is why I used Jonathan.

How has Jonathan Darwen helped you?

Jonathan was amazing from the start to finish. Transferring a final salary pension is an extremely complex process. Jonathan explained everything to me in a way that I understood, updated me weekly as to the progress and achieved the result I wanted.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Jonathan achieved the result I set out to get despite my final salary pension administrators making it very difficult for him. If anyone is looking to transfer a final salary pension please give Jonathan a call, you will not be disappointed.

What could they have done better?

As the saying goes "there is always room for improvement". Jonathan is the exception to this rule. His service was second to none.

Our finance adviser is always available and responds promptly to queries we have had and messages left. He has taken the time to explain things in our language quite plainly and not using financial 'buzz' words that confuse a lot of us out of the finance world. He has been open regarding the costs to us both as a one off and annual fee. He has confirmed everything in writing including details of the fees. So we have our own records to call on and if necessary refer to as and when needed. We have found that he has a professional outlook managing at the same time to be friendly and respectful. He has also helped us giving advice in areas such as making a will by pointing us in the right direction. A thoroughly respectful, helpful polite person who is knowledgeable in his field.
