Nothing. In retrospect, I consulted Dominic too early given my personal circumstances and I was highly stressed. I needed much more time than, I guess, the average person to think things through. At no point was I rushed or felt under pressure to commit to anything and I was able to proceed at my own pace. I took initial advice from 4 IFAs to compare and I chose Dominic due to his exceptional communication skills - he puts time and effort in what he does, explains concisely and is extremely swift in replying to any communications.

I took early release from the civil service some around two and a half years ago, as I had become primary carer for my mother I decided to retire. In order to to ensure that I had adequate income to facilitate this I needed to consolidate three outstanding pension funds to provide income immediately.

How has Dominic Bowers helped you?

In the initial face to face meetings Dominic spent a great deal of time ascertaining what my goals were. We discussed at length the benefits and pitfalls of various schemes and indeed leaving things as they were. In the end I resolved to go ahead and transfer the monies from my pension funds into a Fund which provided me with an immediate and ongoing income. Dominic explained everything fully guiding me through to a scheme which suits my needs and explaining any risks involved. A full comprehensive report was sent to me which outlined all me options. It was important to me to feel that I had some say and control over my pension monies and I believe that with Dominics help I have achieved this.,.

During the transfer process I was kept fully informed of progress, Dominic emailed regularly and updated me on the state of play with the transfer, after chasing the respective parties when necessary. The transfer has now been concluded and my new scheme set up. I am very happy with this outcome and believe that the scheme recommended will serve me well.

I am very happy with the advice I received from Dominic and the subsequent outcome. Taking time to discuss all aspects of my wishes and pointing out negative as well as positive points was very important to me and allowed me to make a decision with all the information. I worked for Perstorp, a multinational chemical manufacturer and Dominic was in discussion with other employees and as I going to retire in the then not too distant future I asked him if he could have a look at my finances and the financial plan evolved subsequently.

Dominic assisted in changing our pension provider from Aegon to Royal London. He visited myself and Cheryle at home on 2 occasions firstly asking details of what we were looking for in the future and our current outgoings verses incoming and our thoughts on risks. From the information he had he went away and assessed the information and returned 2 weeks later to discuss ways forward. He explained that it would be worth changing to Royal London as they were a mutual organisation and also the fees were significantly lower than our current provider. However, this was not our main cause for changing but it did assist us in deciding to swap. He also gave us a questionnaire to assess our thoughts on risk and a detailed look into Royal London prior to signing any documents.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

We have been accepted as investors at Royal London and have received our plan certificate and documents. As it is early days into our new plans we are happy that everything appears to be fine.

What could they have done better?

Dominic is excellent at explaining things that are a bit hard to understand by giving examples of something that Cheryle and I did not understand. however, if there is one area that is confusing is the fees side of the contract. We were aware of what Dominic's charges were but more explanation on how the charges were to be made by Royal London would have helped. I.e I did not realise that they charged on a monthly fee and weather it comes off the investment on a monthly basis or at the end of the financial year. On saying the above Dominic has sent several emails to me asking if we understood everything and if not to ask for assistance.

I find that Dominic is very clear and makes things easily understood. He has taken on board that finances bore me stupid, but equally I need to understand what is going on and I do understand things when I make the effort. I feel he has changed the way he does things to cater for the way I think. I cannot yet comment on the success of everything because we haven't had any returns yet, but I feel confident that things are as safe as they could be. He has answered any queries I have about safety of money/business/fallback in case the company goes under/contingency plans etc so I feel that things appear to be covered.

Dominic is responsible for the administration of pensions for my most recent company prior to my retirement last November. He talked me through other investments and then took time to go through my approaches to risk and what my financial plan is. I had a useful discussion regarding my company pension prior to my retirement and then subsequently useful meetings regarding other investments. Dominic has a 'hands on' approach and is prompt at responding to any queries posed. He takes time to explain in detail in layman's terms questions asked of him.

As I am not a financial expert and have not yet worked with Dominic in the long term I don't feel qualified to be able to advise as to what could be done better.
