Rod knows finances inside out, reads all the small print so I don't have to, explains things clearly and takes justifiable pride in being someone at the top of their game. If something is urgent he finds time to respond quickly and efficiently. Through his guidance I have achieved investment projects/ambitions that I would not have contemplated alone - he makes hurdles that seem too high/complex seem much simpler and is always there as a sounding board, and has completely changed the way I look at finances. Rod goes above and beyond the call of duty, always fitting in with times that suit us. He is an excellent communicator and reads people very well. He is successful because he makes sure his clients are successful. He is courteous, often self deprecating and invariably funny. We look forwards to his visits. He is no ordinary financial advisor!

I can be a pretty pedantic person but I really cannot think of anything he could do better!

In the past year and left a job in the City of London after 15 years and set up 2 businesses and I can safely say none of it would have been possible without Rod's advice and guidance. Rod is excellent at asking the right questions even before they arise and when it comes to my financial - and well frankly life - planning he takes a very individual approach making sure he sets you on a course that is right for you. Not only is his financial advice of the highest calibre, but he also has a great network of the right people for the right jobs as and when they arise. People like him who can literally trust with your life.

Most recently he explained the specific benefits of a change in the pension law before I even knew there was a change in the law. And his straight talking approach makes him a pleasure to deal with particularly if one is short on time. Rod has a vast network so is able to suggest a range of suitable products that are tailored to your specific needs. What I like about Rods approach, which I have found rare when dealing with financial advisors, is the transparency. Rod will always keep you updated on any additional products that he may feel is advantageous to your portfolio. Highly recommended.

I was referred to RIFS by a mortgage advisor that trained with him, with a "no chance, not enough noughts in your finances". Subsequently in family and business issues we have wonderful advice or a useful referral with the client database. So pension, equity, downsizing, retirement planning, small business set up have all been addressed in a warm dialogue.

Rod is outstanding. He focussed on getting to know my husband and I as individuals so his advice was specifically targeted to help us achieve our life goals. When these goals changed from high earning aspirations to family focus and better work life balance he helped us adapt our financial plan to assure our protection and security. Rod has stuck by us through thick and thin. When my husband died tragically this Christmas leaving me as a single mother with school age children I knew I could call on Rod for help in my most desperate hour of need. The level of support he has given me over the last 8 weeks to get us through all the administrative, legal and financial aspects of our devastating change in circumstances has been extraordinary. The plan he executed for us means that our financial future is secure. We originally selected Rod to help us make some extra money (which he did extremely well), however I now understand it takes a lot more than expertise to be an outstanding financial advisor. Rod is a man of integrity who truly cares about his clients, this is what makes him exceptional and I could not recommend him more highly.

What could they have done better?

When I first met Rod I used to think he spent too much time talking about things other than how we should invest our money. I now realize that he was actually investing the time needed to understand what was important to us so he could create a flexible life long financial plan that would really work for us. Thank goodness he did!
