I first became aware of Phil Perry's expertise when I was Personal Finance Editor of the Manchester Evening News in the late 1990s. He became a regular contributor to my finance pages and I was impressed immediately by his skills and abilities in a wide range of specialities. His ability to put things across in everyday language was of great value to me as a journalist trying to communicate with readers who would not, ordinarily, have taken a great interest in Personal Finance. Phil's contributions helped me towards achieving nine "Personal Finance Journalist of the Year" awards over as many years.
