What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

We both had several small pensions and wanted to know how much they would realize both now (so we could retire early) or when we reached retirement age.

How has Christopher Bailey helped you?

Chris helped us gather the information together and was able to advise in a very clear way how we could either make the money work for us when we reached retirement or use to retire early. This was all done sitting in our kitchen in a relaxed easy manner. There was no pushing us to use his services, no sales talk just simple honest advise and help.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

The information supplied has helped us see very clearly what we could use our pension money for - both now and in the future. This is the first time I have ever been able to see exactly how the money we have been putting away can be used. We are both far more relaxed now knowing that we could retire today if we wanted or work until we feel we no longer want to work. Our pensions are also now sorted so that if we both die the money will go to other beneficiaries. Chris has been an absolute dream to work with.

What could be done better - nothing Chris, carry on with your relaxed way of dealing with requests from people like us that had no idea what their pension pots can actually do for them. I was looking to opt out of my company pension scheme, this was a massive decision and I wanted to ensure I received the correct advice. Chris was recommended to me by a work colleague, so I felt confident that he had already given some good advice.

How has Christopher Bailey helped you?

Our first meeting was an informal fact finding, this ensured Chris was able to help me and also give me the chance to make sure Chris was the right person to look after my pension. We then arranged a further meeting which was more formal as important information needed to be relayed, this was conducted in a very professional but informative way that was easy for me to understand. Moving your pension is a big deal and it was really important to me that I understood how it worked, warts and all.

I was very happy with the advice I received, I think it is very important with a long term investment that you understand the ups and downs and particularly understand how the markets can work. Once I agreed with terms ect I was given access to an individually built online TP account, which I can use to not only track my pension but also use for ISAs and other investments. I agreed to move my pension and as a result, I can now draw it down when I am 55 without any penalties but the most important thing to me was ensuring that if anything happened to me that my pension would not die with me and that my family would benefit. Chris helped me achieve these goals.

Nothing major. However, when the market took a dip in January Chris, could have been a little more pro-active in contacting his more recent investors to 'keep calm and carry on'. That said, he has been a great advisor for me and I am hoping he can sort things for my wife shortly as well.

How has Christopher Bailey helped you?

Having met a number of local financial advisers it was refreshing to then meet Chris. What made Chris different from the start was that he made it obvious it was about 'me' and not 'him'. Whereas with the others I had met, they went on at length about their successes and the considerable wealth they managed for their clients, Chris on the other hand, quickly assessed my situation and requirements and started talking common sense that i could understand. Making decisions about retirement is a daunting task, at least it was for me, as it's a first time experience and I need someone that above all I believe I can trust, it's not just about professional capability for me. Having said that, and after a couple of meetings, Chris's professional credentials are not in doubt, it's just that he doesn't bang on about them like some others. I have received some sound advice that I believe will now set me on the right track for a stress free financially managed future, I'm really happy about that and looking forward to my forthcoming retirement.

From the outset Chris made clear the fee structure and having spoken to other Advisers I am satisfied that Chris gave first class service for his fee. Dead helpful, made sure that he got all the facts before completing advice. He made sure that I took the guaranteed annuity that I was not aware was available from my old Group Personal Pension, other people had tried to move it elsewhere. I was then really happy that he looked at existing investments that I had and no longer was receiving any advice or service from the original provider as apparently I did not have enough money to offer a service to. Chris could not have done more for me.

I have realised it can be a bit of a minefield out there. I thought it would be simple to get advice from the big establishments, like the Banks, but was amazed that they will not offer a face to face advice service. I asked them if it was just because I was young and they said you had to have a load of money to even get a chance. I met with Mr Bailey and he was dead patient and willing to guide me and he said that everyone should have advice and the younger you start the better. When I get to a position in life where I have a load of money as per the Banks requirement I will make sure I always seek out Mr Bailey first.

From my first meeting with Chris I found him very understanding of my financial situation and of my attitude to risk. There was no pressure from him for me to go along the lines that I was not happy with. The whole process to sort out my investments and retirement plans probably took some eighteen months due to a family bereavement and myself having an illness. Throughout this time Chris would not speak or pressurise me about financial matters until he was sure I was in the right frame of mind. Eventually the time was right, he explained his recommendations, charges etc and put forward a plan for my retirement which I am more than happy with.
