Our initial meeting with Nick was very informing as to where we were we needed to be. He arranged anther meeting but due to personal reasons we had to postpone. Nick was understanding and arranged another meeting at our convenience where he had compiled all the relevant information and had answered all our questions . Everything that was required by my wife and I was clearly addressed which helped in our situation. Nick is a very thoughtful and professional and we would recommend him to anyone.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

It has been a number of years since i had a financial evaluation, Nick was recommended to me by friends, initially he assisted my terminally ill mother (Nov 17), but whilst undertaking my own financial evaluation I sadly lost my parents within a short period of time and this then took a financial priority. I will be returning to see Nick once estates are finalised, to seek further advice on savings/investments/pensions etc.

How has Nick Matthews helped you?

By Nick assisting my mother it ensured a substantial and maximum payout was secured on her work pension to enable her family to be financially secure. My mother also requested that after her passing my father sort advice from Nick to invest her money for the future of us all. Sadly my father passed away shortly after and Nick has helped sorting out terminating pensions/life insurances/Premium bonds/stocks & shares/advice on account closures and answered questions regarding probate. Not to mention what to prioritise.

Many years ago I had an Equitable Life Pension Plan and when they ran into trouble I decided that I needed to transfer funds to another pension scheme but was unsure how to go about it and where to transfer funds to.

How has Nick Matthews helped you?

Nick helped me to transfer my equitable life fund initially and more recently has reviewed both my wife's and my own pensions providing forecasts and examining our financial requirements when we retire. Outline plans were drawn up showing drawdown options, possible annuities and a mix and match option for when we retire.

Both my wife and myself were pleasantly surprised at the forecasts and with the advice given.

What could they have done better?

In my experience there was nothing that I felt could have been done better, all advice was clear and we were not talked into anything in fact Nick advised us to leave 2 of our pension plans as they were. Time to correlate information was a bit long but this was because the pension companies were slow in responding.

Absolutely, the advice Nick as given both my wife and I has seen out investments and pensions increase year on year. Nick as also advised me not to move an occupational pension I have due to the pension type, to me this shows he is there for the client and not for himself, which is very commendable.

I can't think of anything Nick could do better for me. He is there when I call and need advise and is not pushy in trying to influence your decisions, personally I don't like it when people are always on the phone to me, as long as they are there when I need them, and that's exactly what I get from Nick. How has Nick Matthews helped you?

Using simple diagrams and simple arithmetic, Nick is able to explain fairly complex areas of financial planning in such away that the best solution becomes obvious to his clients. In our case we did not compare Nicks charges with other consultants, so value for money is derated to two stars on a technicality due to the wording of the rating system.

We saw Nick after my children were born as we wanted to make sure if anything happened to either of us, our children would have money for their future. Nick spent alot of time making sure he understood what we wanted and explained everything to us so we understood what we were getting and what would happen with the policy he was suggesting. We got a policy we can afford easily each month and know that our children are protected. We were so pleased when our 3rd child was born we went back for more! He's so easy to talk too and really knew his stuff - cheers Nick

Nick always give me an honest view, investments can go up as well as down. I have found Nick's forecasting very reliable and trust him. Nick is very thorough and is like a dog with a bone at times.
