Jim spent time understanding what I was looking for, prompting me with questions to find out the best mortgage for me and then ran through the process clearly and what I could expect at each stage. He was very helpful and approachable and at no point did I feel pressured. Jim worked hard to find the best mortgage for me most importantly he was always there to contact if I had questions throughout the entire process.

Yes, after one property falling through due to the vendor pulling out Jim was fantastic at offering advice and then getting me a mortgage for my new flat. Throughout the whole process I found Jim to be a great source of impartial advice and supportive particularly in dealing with the estate agent and property company. He was also able to give me advice post buying the flat on insurance and on my will.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

I was unable to find the mortgage I needed by going direct to the market. Their responses were slow and limited. After a year I had almost given up. I'm rather dubious of advisers especially when you see so many PPI and accident adverts. I searched around and Jim's name came up locally and in a regional ratings list.

Due to my job time was very limited. Initial contact was mainly by phone. Jim was straight to the point with clear questions at the outset. He kept me up to date regularly and informed me of our progress through e-mails and swiftly responded to any concerns I had. Jim also recommended the solicitor I used which, while not high on communications, were very effective and efficient.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Yes. From not being able to find a mortgage at the level I needed, Jim found one that gave me more than I hoped for. This took a lot of pressure off the house purchase, moving and settling in to our new home.

What could they have done better?

I'm sure all our needs are different when buying a house. I this instant I cannot think of anything else that could of been better. If you wanted a suggestion... perhaps a welcome to your new home card lol. Seriously though I would recommend Jim.

My partner and myself had found our dream home it was asking for a larger borrowing so when looking for a mortgage but you would say our situation wasn't straightforward both being business owners and having already tried 5 mortgage brokers who couldn't help or get what we wanted. Jim was amazing. Due to an incompetence from one of the mortgage company, this was a horrendous application. All the way through, Jim responded to what was needed in a timely manner, reassured us along the way and managed to find solutions to the problems that were thrown up again and again. His patience, experience, responses and positive attitude meant that we actually got our mortgage – something that wouldn't have happened had we not had his help. I wanted to remortgage my residential property to release equity to use as a deposit to purchase a buy to let property. I initially asked Jim about a mortgage for both properties but subsequently we discovered that my bank gave the best offer for the first mortgage. I was really impressed with the way that Jim agreed with this and did not try to pressure me into taking one of the mortgages that he had found. Integrity like that is not so easily found these days! I then used Jim's services to secure a mortgage for the buy to let. I was an awkward customer here because I had an urgent timescale for the application due to the property being bought in an auction. Jim was excellent in staying on top of the transaction and keeping me informed about the progress with the mortgage company as well as making sure that they didn't delay the processing. I have no hesitation in recommending Jim as a mortgage advisor.

Being a first time buyer is a scary position which is why I sought the help of a mortgage advisor. I can't rate Jim highly enough. Approachable, quick, knowledgeable and has a genuine interest in helping. Everything I asked was explained to me in layman terms which I am grateful for. Everything just gets sorted, from making every offer to estate agents, seeking mortgages (EVEN finding another mortgage within a 10 minute period after the initial one went a bit 'Pete Tong'), to filling in paperwork. I did nothing, but get all the rewards!

What could they have done better?

The only drawback for me is the cost. On one hand, worth every penny and I wouldn't have done it any other way and wouldn't have wanted to deal with anyone else. On the other hand, I checked the website prior to calling and saw the suggested cost was approximately £500, I paid £999. This was explained to me before I agreed to proceed and there weren't any other hidden costs but as a first time buyer counting every penny this can seem costly.

How has Jim Withers helped you?

Jim knows his stuff and is able to articulate it in a way that is easy to understand. He always did what he said he would do; so I never needed to chase. The first time I used him, he couldn't get me a better deal than my existing provider had offered but was fine about it and still helped me make the right decision. This made me go back to him this time round; and this time he was able to secure a deal far better than any of the comparison websites were offering. He then dealt with all the admin side of things so all I had to do was provide some proof of salary etc and sign a few forms.

How has Jim Withers helped you?

Jim took the time to fully understand all of our circumstances, help discover information for us as well as asking us, and worked in language that was easy to understand. I really valued the ability to move the process forward quickly when we had deadlines to meet, and balanced this with sometimes slowing us down and making sure we were making the right decisions. When my situation changed, and I needed to make new arrangements it was great to work with someone who already knew my situation, he also did a lot of background work on areas that did not directly relate to the mortgage product to help me get organized.
