How has Richard Salter helped you?

Richard has been helping my mother in the first instance and myself (her son) over the last 5 years. I have been deeply sceptical of Financial Advisors having had a number of bad experiences including one where I could have been in serious trouble with the tax authorities and seen various schemes cost me more than generate additional income. Over the years I have learned to trust Richard a great deal, mainly thanks to his affable approach, listening, subtle challenges, transparency of costs and his remarkable patience. I have never felt his advice has been influenced by potential commission and that at all times he has been professional, flexible and operated with integrity. My mother does not have a huge portfoilio and relies on the small ammount she has to last and top up her state pension. Richard has also respected that and tried to help as much as he could. Well done Richard.

What could they have done better?

Richard can go on a bit, I find it interesting and informative but am sure that does not suit everyone. Sometimes a clearer and more concise answer is appropriate. Occasionally there is a over emphasis on saving tax when mother is a non tax payer!

Richard Salter is a naturally good natured and friendly person. He is easy to approach and easy to get on with. He is generous with his time and ensures that he understands all aspects of ones financial situation. I find it as simple to communicate with him in person, by phone or in emails and he is always warm and welcoming when I visit his office. After digesting all the information and understanding my needs and my restraints, his great experience then comes to play as he is able to offer sound and well thought through solutions to all my queries and worries. He is not pushy or demanding like some FA tend to be. I find that Richard Salter is open, honest, has helped me enormously and I cant recommend him enough.

What could they have done better?

Like some FA who understand their business so well, there were times when I had to slow his explanations down a little in order that I fully understood the detail. Richard Salter did exactly that so rather than being a weakness , I suppose that it in fact a strength - to recognise the clinets capablility at understanding the Financial speak / situation/ options etc ..

It is a shame I never saw anything from this enquirer. We monitor email daily and respond most readily via this medium so it is hard to see how this could have been missed. There are of course occasional blips, notably with broadband supply, spam, changes in IT setups and blocked or 'junk' labels sometimes cropping up but we do always seek to respond in a timely fashion to all enquiries.
