I had a Financial Advisor provided by my previous company, however I liked Brian's clear explanation of what could be regarded as complex. He is very knowledgeable and I trust him 100%, something that is not always the case in this industry. I also liked the fact that Beaufort have the support of their own Fund Manager, who clearly knows his onions.

Brian has been my IFA for the past 9 years, initially helping me consolidate different pension schemes and offering general advice about investments. I had released equity from my London flat to purchase a property in Kent. I then rented the London flat out to tenants.

In reviewing the rental income and cost variant over the previous months, Brian was able to calculate what the return would be should I sell the property and invest the funds. At no point did I feel under pressure to make any decision, Brian was merely showing me, in a simple and clear fashion, what comparison of the returns would be with both options. It was very clear the returns would be far superior if I sold the property and invested the funds. It became a very simple decision.

in 2002, when our daughter was 5, my wife went self-employed as a consultant. She employed an accountant and it was she who mentioned she had heard good things about Brian, then a young, up and rising IFA. We took to each other from the start and are now pleased to be amongst his oldest clients. Beaufort Financial, of which Brian is a principal partner, provide a top-end and top quality range of services, nobly assisted by Shane Balkham, Chief Investment Officer at Beaufort Investment, who had had remarkable success over the course of many years now.

Brian has helped us over a period of 20 years now with every aspect of our finances and, now, those of our daughter. He has helped us find great mortgage deals, grown our pension pots beyond our expectations, given us excellent advice on inheritance planning and issues like equity release (don't!). He always goes out of his way to explain everything clearly and has successfully challenged a number of our thoughts and plans and found better solutions, whilst preserving our overall desired direction.

We have had ups and downs with our finances as a result of life choices we have made but Brian has consistently sustained us with his calm, practical and very knowledgeable advice. Brian took the time to go through each one with me and discuss the best option, individually and collectively. There were one or two that we left and others that we combined into one pot. I was nervous because these are funds that you can't regather easily, so I needed to feel confident that the advice I was being given was good advice, and right for me. I had one more recent pension that was reasonably sizeable (for me) and I kept that back initially. But once I realised the benefits, I have asked Brian to combine that as well.

How has Brian Davies helped you?

Brian has the right combination of being able to explain his subject well, in a short concise manner, as well as having a personality! This personable approach and knowledge in his field makes him easy to recommend, which I have done on numerous occasions. I have full confidence in receiving the right information from Brian due to the fact that since moving my investments across, they have outperformed the market. Brian also holds 6 monthly seminars for all of clients, which have always been very interesting and useful.

Practical and sensible advice , clearly based on personal circumstances. No hard sell or persuasion to particular products or decisions and I feel involved all the way. Great knowledge base and always good at following up on things. Brian is personable and approachable and delivers information in a style that I can understand.

What could they have done better?

At this stage I couldn't ask for more or different. I haven't sought advice on certain issues so cannot comment on business that I have not requested advice on. So far, all good.

Brian took the time to come to my home and was well prepared when he arrived. He asked me about my situation and requirements which was really positive, he wasn't interested in about what he had, more what I needed.

Brian is a very personable adviser, he takes his time to understand the bigger picture before going away to check and make his recommendations. He is very clear about his charges and what his firm does and how they can help, mentioning all the areas of expertise their firm offers. Brian doesn't just talk work work work, meeting him is always a pleasure as he gets to know you and then advises you in your best interest. The main thing is that he isn't a salesman!!! He is genuinely there to help and guide you.

What could they have done better?
