What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

I had two private pensions, one of which was an outdated Bond 32 with the Prudential with whom I was having great difficulty to access my pension and also the cost of receiving an income from drawdown. Paul was recommended by an acquaintance and I contacted Paul. He visited shortly afterwards and reviewed the situation. Paul overcame all the obstacles put forward by Prudential, which for a major company, were very unhelpful as we felt that they wanted to keep my pension in house at an extortionate management expense. Paul did a fantastic job, all being it taking a little time (not his fault) and resolved my situation.

I was coming up to my retirement and was needing, in line with Government Advice, independent Financial Advice. I must advise that I also sought advice from other Financial Advisers.

Paul Raper listened carefully to my needs. I had to put all my Private Pensions into 'one pot'. This he organised and then advised me on my 'drawdown' options.

Initially yes. However, with the COVID-19 pandemic and more recently the invasion of Ukraine by Russia the financial markets have received considerable upheaval therefore the outcome is now not what I was hoping for. This may be only a temporary setback, time will tell,

Poor performance in a previous plan, lack of communication from our advisor at the time.

Sadly the investments have not performed as well as expected but as I understand it this is primarily due to the impact of Brexit, Covid and the ongoing war in Ukraine. Some of those losses have been regained I presume in part due to good investment strategies.

Paul has set up Pension and ISA's including regular meetings on how they are performing. Paul has patiently presented subjects that I am not familiar with in layman terms and with graphs so that it is more easily digested. I feel I can contact him if ever I have any questions and he will respond to me within a reasonable time.

The investments are not doing as well as they should but have been informed that this is due to the current affairs such as Brexit, Covid and Ukraine war. In saying that before these unpredictable years the investments were performing well and you could see where they were heading but with current times they have not gained any momentum.

Paul listened very carefully to my current situation, future financial requirements and capacity to save. He focused on key areas, asked very pertinent questions and developed a programme that I am very happy with.

I have recommended Paul to a number of my friends - he is reluctant to take on too many clients in order to preserve the level of service he strives to provide existing clients. I would suggest he gets some help!!!!!

I had received some bad advice from a larger company . Paul investigated and found out I was been severely overcharged this is now being addressed with the Financial Ombudsman. Without Paul's help I would have had great difficulty in explaining my complaint it will be a huge saving to myself. Paul also revised my life and critical illness cover it still costs the same but the level of cover is 4 times the previous policy . Paul will always give you honest, appropriate and constructive advise and works extremely well in offering solutions often of which I had never considered but are sound advise. I came across Paul after reading an article which independently rated him as one of the best and that is certainly my experience.

He was particularly helpful in helping me decide which level of risk I wanted to invest for short or long term returns and kept it clear and simple - helpful for someone like me who doesn't really have a full understanding of how the financial markets work.

I don't think there was anyone. I got a great return on the first year of my investment and am really happy with the service I received and will certainly be using Mr Raper again.

I asked Paul for some advice regarding a final salary pension. A previous advisor had recommended I cash in and move to an alternative investment. Paul kindly spent some considerable time with me explaining in detail the implications of what I had been advised and also gave me some advice generally on my savings and investments.
