We wanted to rationalise, consolidate and align our various pension schemes and bring our pension funds under our control with professional investment management.

How has Asif Sadullah helped you?

Asif has helped us transfer a number of defined contribution schemes and defined benefit into a single self invested pension pot each and consolidated our ISA pots . It has simplified our financial arrangements and given us a much clearer overview so we can make financial decisions for our futures. To that end, the various stress testing cash flows have been extremely helpful in setting the appropriate level of income we can take each month.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Obviously we don't know the longer term outcome of the decisions we have taken with Asif's professional guidance - however, we have achieved our short term goals of retiring early, simplifying our arrangements and understanding our financial position.

What could they have done better?

I find the stress-testing cashflow forecasts very helpful and hope they will form part of each annual review. I would also find it helpful to re-present some of the financial information in clear summaries - sometimes the information in annual reviews is confusing. It might be helpful to have a overview from day one with new money in, withdrawals, investment income, fees and capital increases/decreases and an annual statement showing the same information for the year. However, these are minor issues as we are happy with the advice we have been given and much appreciate how easy it is working with Asif and his team.

I took redundancy and wanted early retirement so needed advice on pension options and whether I could in fact retire.

How has Asif Sadullah helped you?

Asif took time to go through and understand what my circumstances were and in an ideal world, what would be my wish going forward. He then took me through PenLife’s performance record, the services he could offer and what the charges would be. After submitting all financial information we then planned what costs were needed to clear debt, then live. To my surprise, what transpired was that with prudence, I would be able to retire at 55 years old.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

It is now approx 1.5 years later and the initial performance has surpassed expectations. It was helped in part by the timing of my investments being transferred and then markets picking up after the initial shock of COVID and lockdowns. However, the money still had to be in the right place to get a good return on those investments, so I am very pleased.

What could they have done better?

The only area that could have been improved upon was the transfer of all my funds, which was complex, frustrating and took longer than anticipated. This, however, was nothing to do with Asif and the PenLife team, but the companies where my pensions were. I don’t think anything more could have been done.

Yes and more, having engaged at the end of February 2020 we stepped more into the world of uncertainty of the worlds stock markets but walked straight into the world pandemic of covid 19 (no doing of Asif). Some 10 months down the line all is good, the advise he gave is standing up and we feel Asif plus all the team at PenLife are there working hard on our behalf and will react to issues as and when they arrive.

What could they have done better?

Well as a Yorkshires man born and bread we do not suffer fools lightly and not always the easiest people to totally please as we are always looking for added value. Could Asif have done any better? well to say no could be regarded as being complacent and to say yes would be very harsh but there is always things that maybe with hindsight you would do different a second time around. To me it is all about trust on both parts and as long as Asif and Penlife continue to be follow the path that was discussed, be available to discuss any issues and react when they have to then all is what more can I ask.

We were looking to transfer out of a work place pension and invest the monies into a pension plan to allow us to have greater flexibility managing our finances.

He arranged several appointments taking time to listen to us and ascertain our requirements in retirement. He took the process one step at a time, which avoided information overload. Asif went to great lengths to explain the information in language we could understand. We received a physical copy of all the information he had compiled. This has allowed us to take our time to look through it and thoroughly digest the information. He gave advice on other matters that we had not thought of such as making a will, power of attorney, how the transfer would affect provisions we were able to make for our children and more.

I had a Pension Transfer as a result of a divorce and I needed advice on the options that were available to me, and sound advice with the investing of the transfer. The financial arena of pensions was certainly alien to me and I wanted to find a financial advisor that would explain processes, options and investments with clarity and in real terms.

How has Asif Sadullah helped you?

When I first met Asif I had already met two other financial advisors who I had also found on VouchedFor. If I am honest I had found the meetings with the two other difficult and uneasy and was left overwhelmed and confused by their advice which I felt had been delivered in an arrogant and pushy way. Asif was different. I explained to him my current financial position and my worries and concerns, and he listened! He didn't bombard me with financial technicalities, he talked through my options and steered me through the maze of pensions and investment with clear and thorough explanations.

Absolutely! Asif has certainly gone above and beyond in dealing with, what was initially a relative easy pension transfer, with dealing with a catastrophic pension transfer disaster as a direct result of the mishandling of the transfer by the pension provider.

I had various small financial matters that I needed some expert advice on, but mainly it was dealing with legacy pension issues and moving these into something that would give me a better return.

We have a yearly review which is I assume common practice and certainly adequate. However, I think perhaps a 6 monthly email/call to see if they are any issues/concerns from either side might be beneficial.

We were a bit shaken with all that was happening with Aviva where our investments are, however, Asif assured us our money was safe and it was still the best place for our money. We have just completed our annual financial review and we are happy that our "nest egg" is still doing well and with a slight adjustment to how I receive my pension I will not pay any tax.

A difficult question to answer. We have an annual face to face review and the rest of the time Asif has made himself available for any queries and questions we have and is always prompt with his response by e mail or phone. So far there hasn't been an occasion to complain and I would flag it up if there had been
