What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an accountant?

We were running four separate businesses and struggling to align. Our previous accountant had not submitted responses in time to HMRC so we were keen to explore a more efficient service and to streamline our businesses.

What could they have done better?

We would benefit from a basic book-keeper to prepare finances for Colin. He has suggested one woman but she has been difficult to contact. An in-house, affordable service would be good.

I am a limited company and my previous accountant went into liquidation.

As above I was in the dark for a very long time on the old accountant. My books were left in a mess and I had bills fro HMRC that were unpaid. Colin and his company came to aid and basically fixed the mess and now provide me with a more pr0-Clive service that suits my needs. Furthermore I have since stated a new company and Colin and his colleagues have been there at every stage to support, offer guidance and consult on all matters relating to forming a company.

I started a social enterprise business and had no experience of accounting so needed a professional.

How has Colin McNally helped you?

Colin met with me in person at the very start of my business journey. He advised what was required in relation to setting up and requirements in relation to accounts, TAX, HMRC etc. His initial advice was under no obligation to go with his company. Colin has guided and advised throughout and when we became a charity he made sure that we were compliant with all aspects of what was required from being a charity. He advised using a banking account App which I now do, XERO. If I have any questions Colin is on hand to answer and make sure I am clear about the answer.

Absolutely. I have every confidence that our financials are well looked after and moving to XERO has made it so much easier for me.

From my perspective I can see nothing that I can show fault in or comment on negatively

We were looking to move from our accountants who were based in Manchester, having known Colin and his firm for a number of years, and that they were local based, we thought they would be perfect for working in partnership with our business. Their knowledge, experience and professionalism is outstanding and I would have no hesitation to recommend this firm.

Colin, supported the business through a compliance check which was conducted by HMRC. He audited the accounts in relation to this and had collated all the necessary records, documentation required to support the compliance check. which resulted in no further action or intervention by HMRC.

In recent months I have found myself in some financial difficulty. I also fell my Xero is all over the place.

At the start Colin gave me and my business sound advice. Cokin explained everything in a way that me and the business understood and continues to understand. We now have an accountant who is in the process of making my xero more produvtive and offering training to all my staff. This has eased stress and my new accounts will allow me to seek if required funding to help my business grow. Colins greatest asset was he never pushed you into any product or service. We were given time to consider the advice given, which is rare today.

I knew absolutely nothing about starting up a business or what taxes I would be liable for.
