What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an accountant?

Preparation of accounts and SATR following an HMRC inspection.

“Paul Marks & Co were extremely efficient and professional. Excellent, practical advice over and above what was paid for. I would definitely recommend and use again,”.

Very much so.

What could they have done better?

A minor criticism is that I didn't always feel aware of what the next step would be/what I would need to do next. I think this is largely down to my own inexperience, though.

Well, this is more the whole industry related - the accounting software systems can have more specific options and variations, so that it better suit each and every client, but I guess it is moving towards this goal,

My previous accountant said he had too many big clients to deal with and didn't have time to talk with me by telephone.

I turned to Paul Marks when my previous accountant said he didn't have the time to talk with me by telephone. Since this time Paul has been great and makes me feel that I am he's only client even though I only have a small business.

Paul Marks & Co provide a very professional service. If you want to ensure you are not paying too much tax I would urge any small or medium sized business owner to contact them”.

My business has grown during my time with Paul Marks. He has help enormously in helping me do this. I have branched now into the property sector and he now helping with advicing me. Vat is a minefield in this area and so I feel less stress knowing Paul Marks is advicing me.

What could they have done better?

Maybe we need to meet up once every three months and discuss the business more freely. He would then see where I was trying to take the business, and advice accordingly.
