I cannot think of any constructive suggestions that Andrew could have done better as we were very satisfied with how the process has been handled so far. Andrew is very adept at explaining what can be complicated financial issues in layman's terms, without making the recipient feel inept.

In planning for retirement, I sought the advice of a financial adviser, selecting Andrew Dodd following two meetings to discuss what I already had in place and his recommendations for change.

How has Andrew Dodd helped you?

Andrew helped in the transfer of my final salary pension, enabling the potential for an early retirement. He explained in detail all of the options open to me, and provided a selection of models to highlight the feasibility of what I wanted to achieve. He is very adept at explaining options and potential outcomes at a level suitable for each customer and situation, and made sure that I understood all implications of my chosen path.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Having weighed my position and goals Andrew recommended a path that I chose to follow. This is currently tracking ahead of my plan and, if the markets remain kind, will enable me to achieve my goal of retirement by 58 which had been removed as an option due to changes to my company pension. A very pleasing result.

My only suggestion would be greater use of Skype or similar for reviews, rather than needing face to face meetings.

Initially I discussed my finances with one of his team, Alison Beardsell who was very clear and direct in assessing my position & need to plan efficiently in my later years. This lead to an in-depth meeting with Andrew, my options were outlined in more detail, his suggestions followed up by email. I then had time ( not pressure) to make my choices which lead to a further meeting to get things underway.

Yes. Of course the world financial markets/ climate is unsettled right now with so much uncertainty. My strategy & that of HWS, has been to take the longer term view & hopefully my investments will produce growth in the years to come.

With a financial adviser, trust is paramount.

Investments can go up as well as down, and we are in for the long haul. Our investments, on the whole, have done well. We are pleased by their returns, despite Andrew having to steer the way through difficult and turbulent financial times.

I wanted advice on making my money work during retirement. The banks and building societies were not offering sufficient interest.

He listened to what my requirements were and advised accordingly. I did not want any risk to my capital as replacement was not possible during retirement. He advised on partner insurance to cover income if the worst happened and helped with inheritance tax avoidance in the event of both of us dying by way of writing our will. Advised on power of attorney need. Regular reviews help keep on top of the market.

Investments lost money initially due to the recession experienced at that time. Long term they have recovered well and started to pay out without using any capital.

Mortgage advice: Andrew ensured we got an excellent offset mortgage at a very competitive rate which saved us thousands of pounds over the 7 years we had the mortgage. Savings advice: Andrew's advice in 2008 regarding medium term savings proved to be very profitable. We are delighted that our savings have increased in value by 70% during that period. Pensions advice: Andrews suggestion for a small pension I needed has proved to be ideally suited to my needs. Review meetings: These meetings normally conducted by phone are well prepared, friendly, detailed and productive.
