I inherited quite a lot of money and was keen to invest it well, but clueless as to how. I was also concerned that my pension plan was not performing well enough.

From the very first telephone conversation I had with Sebastian, where he put me at my ease immediately, and carefully extracted all the information he needed to know, I knew there and then that I'd found the right person to handle my financial affairs, ( So very different from the half dozen or so previous IFA's that I'd spoken to) and nothing has changed since then. More often or not he goes that extra mile. Three years down the line Sebastian has never disappointed, and has always done what he promises. He is always available when needed, answers emails and phone messages the same day. He never makes me feel inferior and painstakingly explains things - often twice if needed in my case! He acts in a totally professional manner at all times.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

I really wanted an expert to consolidate various smallish pensions from different companies I had worked for into one coherent SIPP. Also, in time I decided to take the transfer value from my defined benefits scheme and include that in the consolidation. We also looked at what Life Insurance we should retain and what discard when not required (after transfer of defined benefit scheme). He also handled my mortgage rate negotiation and deal choice

He helped me deal with the total consolidation and with a huge amount of complex paperwork and documentation and compliance material relating to the taking down the transfer value of the defined benefit scheme. He consolidated all my small pots from various companies I ahd worked for. The investment management company that he is associated with are competent, clear and detailed in their strategy options. He helped me plan for future income flows and with the administration of dealing with the withdrawal of tax-free benefits. He advised fully on on Life Time Allowance and all tax implications.

Absolutely yes. My SIPP is consolidated and clear. I no longer have to deal with multiple entities and am clear what my funds are, when they are accessible and with what tax liabilities. My mortgage schedule is appropriate. Life insurance is appropriate and fairly priced. The charges for his services are clear, transparent and fair.

Firstly, a "windfall" surprise pension pot that I was tracked down for needed attention and I was offered expensive and poor advice by the current scheme advisors. I actually found Sebastian by a simple search for IFAs close to where I worked.. I figured it was time to consolidate everything and get a clear plan in place.

Sebastian put huge effort into all the nitty gritty of the documentation that was required to move some smaller pension pots plus the large "windfall" into one Standard Life Wrap where I would have flexibility to have some influence on the investment process. He did the admin necessary to raise my Lifetime allowance and all the work necessary to free up some cash funds taking advantage of new regulations.

Yes. I have had clear advice on my DBS enabling me to finally understand its implications and make an informed decision. I have the cash that I needed for various projects and I have all of the cash pot in one scheme, cautiously managed as I desire and with me able to have input on investment decisions myself. Being a Company Director you are faced with challenges when trying to borrow a substantial mortgage. It is very difficult as an individual consumer to prove your income if you have various streams incoming. Therefore I had no idea how much I could borrow or even what price house to look for. Mr Hurst was one of a few your search engine advised me for the top financial advisors in England. I must admit the few prior to Sébastian's phone call, were rather good, yet, after his call, the margin was consistently differential. Already over the call conversation, Sébastian was very concise, clear and with a wealth of precise knowledge of my tricky dilemma. I, truly, felt he knew my tedious case, without much explanation on my behalf. Very generous with his guidance, he advised me to bring all the paperwork, important and less important. I turned up to the fab Blackfriars offices, with a large number of documents ( when choosing the appointment,Sébastian was reassuring and gave me a good choice of days and times). The office is discreet, Sébastian asked straight questions, the one I actually prepared in my much detailed home-work. Among the scatty paperwork, he selected what needed ( one must agree to be amazed by such a skill with bureaucratic paperwork). Again with extreme discretion, politeness and professionalism, he drew an outline for what needed to be done. I loved the accuracy, boldness and no frills approach. Just when loosing all hope with the financial world, Mr Hurst surely knew how to readdress my concerns. I left smiling. Very many thanks Mr Hurst.

Maybe call sooner, as the selected few were good. The system-advisor used do not give enough time for the ones who are very buzzy. I send my request and received a few within 24h and it was a week-end! An excellent device, yet, if I was not ill that week, I might have gone with the few who called prior to Mr Hurst.

Seb was brilliant from the outset in making us feel comfortable and wanting to really understand our financial positions and my attitude to risk - he has great technical knowledge, yet manage to simplify everything for me patiently. The difference with Seb and other advisors I have met was that I always felt he was giving you a 100% honest answer and appraisal, subsequently giving us sound advice that you felt you can trust. Nothing is too much for him and it's always a personable service and you will enjoy working with him, you are not seen as just another person in a queue. The speed in which he was able to come back to us with a mortgage DIP and offer was absolutely second to none - besides the fact there were no additional costs to use him! It's reassuring to know I can back to Seb for any advice big or small, knowing that he is someone who really knows what he is talking about.

A few weeks ago I was referred to Sebastian, having had a disappointing initial mortgage offer from my preferred mortgager. Within a few days, Sebastian had arranged a tailor-made mortgage from a different company, and I was able to proceed with my house purchase without delay. Sebastian was fully engaged with my needs and expectations throughout, and proactive in keeping the lines of communication open. I will definitely ask Sebastian to arrange my next mortgage, and we are meeting soon to discuss my pension arrangements.

I met Sebastian because my siblings and myself needed to release Equity in my mother's home so that she could remain in her own home and not have to go into a care home. My mother has dementia and sebastian realized that we would need to get a controller registered from the court of Protection in order to proceed with the Equity release. He has gone the extra mile for us, even contacting solicitors who could help with the court of protection. For a young person he feels very strongly about elderly people's financial status and laid out very clearly what our options were and demonstrated in layman's terms what each entailed. Without Sebastian's help and assistance our mother's only option was to sell up and go into a care home. I simply cannot tell you what this means for us as a family. I only hope that other people who feel like they have no options get a meeting with this young man!

Honestly I cannot make any suggestions on what Sebastian could do better. He made the financial side easy to understand and his compassion for the elderly was evident.

From our first meeting I knew I had met the right person. Sebastian listened carefully, making notes, to my requirements which was retirement at the end of July 2013. He asked important issues such as risk and taxation UK or France. Our next meeting was planned 2 weeks later.
