I had a sum of money to invest and needed a reasonable amount of interest coming in and to provide me with some extra income.

Paul spread out my investments into medium risk options that I was comfortable with. I have been able to take out sums of money to have work done on my property and change my car, also a monthly income to top up my pension.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

I had accumulated a variety of savings plans over time, and they needed a professional review to improve performance and provide a proper risk balance. Paul had been advising my mother, and she was very pleased with the performance of her investments, so I decided to approach him.

How has Paul Miller helped you?

He recommended rebalancing and improving the performance of my largest fund by changing to other subfunds within the main fund wrappper, as this was better than changing to a totally different fund wrapper, taking into account my tax situation.

I was happy with the performance of the re-jigged fund, but we'll have to see how things go through these troubled times.

What could they have done better?

I can't think of anything to suggest, as Paul has been totally professional, has responded quickly to my my queries, and sent me additional documentation when I've requested it. The communications during the recent roller-coastering of the financial markets were reassuring.

My previous advisor had ceased and was also tied to a bank. I needed to update my pension plans and couldn't find the Independent advisor I had used years ago who i had trusted. One of my Investments was being changed yet again by the company involved and I received a letter from Paul Millar to say his firm was taking over the management of that investment and did I need help with it. I sent him a letter and asked for his help. I wanted someone independent and am cautious with whom I will trust my information.

I was given a thorough financial health check, risk assessment and provided with a detailed proposal to look though. The review is carried out annually which is what I wanted and I am updated via email and can check my Investments at any time if I wish.

Yes, I am now happy with the investments I have and my pension plans. Paul listened to my concerns and took them into account when advising me. Also I have investments that work for me and are not tied to just one Company /Bank etc. You have the final say in what happens. My sister has also joined as a client with another advisor within the firm.

Paul advised on the best way forward to achieve my goals. He has initiated a single home for my pension savings and continues to regularly advise me on current and possible future trends, assisting with making decisions about which funds it might be beneficial to move my money into for the best returns.

Obviously with the Covid pandemic, most investments have taken a hit recently, prior to this my fund had been building nicely. Hopefully it will now start to recover. Originally self invested in various private pensions and PEPS/ISA's. Eventually these investments required professional handling as complications arose over time.

How has Paul Miller helped you?

Paul was involved with wife's NHS pension at LV so after chatting with him about my circumstances he outlined a plan to merge my disparate pensions and to plan my various equities under one umbrella.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Yes, my various pensions were invested in one private pension which has inbuilt protection and minimum guarantees. My equities are weathering the financial difficulties seen of late due to wise investments.

What could they have done better?

We all would like better returns on our investments but there is a trade off with safety.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

Originally it was for additional investment planning via ISAs. Subsequently Paul contacted me last year about transferring my various company pension funds to a SIPP.

How has Paul Miller helped you?

Paul got me to fill out a financial risk analysis and then we discussed options for a SIPP. Based on that he advised the Aegon SIPP I now have. We also agreed to change the funds for my Cofunds ISA to provide better exposure. I found his advice very helpful and he would readily answer any questions or concerns I had. (I might add he very patiently answered my many queries!). Paul is always very responsive and contacts me ASAP to discuss questions I have.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Yes. Overall (notwithstanding the global economic impact due to the pandemic) my investments have performed well. Time will tell as these have only been in place since October 2019 but I am pretty confident based on what I've seen so far.
