My pension provider Royal London were unable to move my pension to their own drawdown scheme unless I took the professional advice from an approved and regulated Financial Adviser. I searched for a local FA and had a telephone conversation with Brian Flindall. I was impressed with the way our telephone conversation had gone and decided that Brian was the right person to trust with my pension advice.

I was looking for advice with moving a pension scheme from where it was to somewhere that gave me the ability to access it with a draw down facility. After going through various options with Brian, I decided to choose an equity release scheme and leave my pension scheme where it was. Brian helped me get the best scheme available - I knew very little about all this to be honest but Brian guided me through it all & explained it every step of the way.

As I mentioned earlier, I know very little about pension schemes & equity release schemes so Brian helped me with everything really.

I think I have got the best outcome - my pension scheme is better staying where it is & I have the money from my equity release scheme to enjoy my early retirement now.

I contacted Brian back in May 2021 after being given his name by a friend as I was due to retire and had two large pensions that I required advice on

Brian advised me to combine the two pensions and then took me through ways of what could be done with it. He also asked questions to see what sort of risk I would prefer. I was happy with his advise and asked him to look after it for me. He also advised that investments could fall as well as rise.

Yes I have, He advised a Royal London investment which meets my requirement [Inc 25% tax free release that I required]. In the 3 months of investment, my portfolio has risen by 4%. I intend to take drawdown in the next financial year starting April 2022

I had a reasonable sum upon my retirement and opted to seek expert advice. Out several companies I settled on Credencis as my best option.

To a great extent yes, but I didn't forsee how much the administration costs would be.
What could they have done better?
I can't think of anything at the present time, but I am sure that the investment companies are very well paid - and probably earn it. If the investment is sound & the market is good it is better than relying on small interest savings accounts. As Brian told me it is a long term investment.

Brian is really good at keeping in touch by phone calls. As I appreciate this is a lot quicker than emails. However, as English is not my first language I feel more comfortable dealing with legal terms in writing. Brian helped clarify many aspects of financial products without obscure terminology. He advised me not just on products that may be suitable at the time but also with possible changing circumstances in the future.

With regard to mortgages and insurance; yes. Regarding savings, investments and pensions; this is still ongoing at this time in my life.
What could they have done better?
The only thing which comes to mind is to perhaps offer 'guides' explaining the multitude of confusing financial terms and phrases. One could then save these and refer to them when contemplating making changes to ones financial products, and thereby be more understanding of things which to many of us are so frustratingly complicated and mysterious.

In 2010 I had a couple of personal pension plans which were due to mature on my birthday in November of that year. Also, I would be receiving my state pension in the July of 2011. I was therefore keen to seek sound financial advice to help me plan for my full retirement in December 2015.
How has Brian Flindall helped you?
He reviewed my financial requirements and helped me consolidate not just my pensions but also other items in my range of savings such as cash and capital growth ISAs and instant access savings accounts. He proposed I take up the 25% tax-free lump sum, convert my pension fund to drawdown and, as I was still working full-time, that I start contributing to a new pension scheme so that I could benefit from the tax-free sum and an additional small pension when I decided to retire some time later. He also recommended a tailored investment portfolio for the proceeds of my other savings. I took up all these options.
Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?
Yes, particularly now that I am fully retired. I am receiving a monthly pension from my drawdown fund which supplements my state pension. The additional personal pension fund will enable me to take a tax-free lump sum at any time and provide me with an extra amount to add to the drawdown until such time it is financially expedient and appropriate to convert the funds to a more beneficial pension product.
What could they have done better?
I honestly cannot think of anything Brian could improve on.

Back in 2008 I needed my various pensions reviewing as they were not making the growth required and a couple other IFAs had not been able to help me.
How has Brian Flindall helped you?
Brian was able to put my pensions together, saving me money on admin charges and making administration easier. I was able to take my 25% tax free lump sum and move into flexible drawdown. I am now getting good growth, a drawdown income , flexibility for the future and regular reviews. In addition my wife and I have received excellent advice on our savings and investments.

I have always had high hopes, the banking crisis and its impact on the markets and investments has been very difficult for anyone to make much money. My investments and pensions have with Brian's advice done much better than most, it is easy to make money when times are good but it takes a sound business acumen to make money when times are hard.

Brian is a very switched-on sort of guy, I have already suggested to him previously that his customers sometimes need a bit of time to absorb what they are being told. Brian has taken that on board and has slowed down his delivery of information when dealing with me.
