I have used financial advisers for past forty years, and changed because an adviser retired and I moved location

You always dream that other people will make money for you, but really, that is a fantasy. There could be a stringer sense of partnership. This existed with previous financial adviser, very strong feeling of working and making decisions together. But, I am at a different stage in my life from fifteen years ago, and James is of a different generation.

After my husband died I felt I wanted to make sure that my investments and savings were safe, that I was planning effectively for later years and that someone had access to my financial information in the event of my not being able to handle my affairs competently.

I feel I don't have to keep monitoring what were very varied investments, or be concerned about volatile markets and global problems.

Nothing. James is very approachable and always responds immediately to any queries.

Poor performance of previous pension.

Have a regressive charging structure other than a straight percentage.

I first attempted to make investments on my own behalf and failed to be successful, losing a sum of money in the process. I then looked for an advisor to help get me out of my current position and turn things around.

Nothing springs to mind. I have a very thorough planning meeting each year with James, and he is available and responsive to any queries that I may have in between annual meetings, that may arise from government tax/pension changes etc.
