I was introduced to Ellis Bates in 2008 when my parents died and was needing help with investments and inheritance.

Yes certainly it has been an excellent service

In my opinion Margery wasthe perfect advisor for me Her voice was so reassuring, she went through and explained everything in plain English her advice was straight forward in words I could understand (no jargon) I would recommend this Lady to anyone in particular if your savi with on line business etc like me , she goes through it bit by bit without being pushy. I decided I needed to speak to an adviser to see what my best options were to enhance my pension pot. I originally got in touch with one of Margery's colleagues who then left the company. I was then put in touch with Margery and I have been very happy with her help and advice during my time being looked after by Margery.

Not just yet with Covid but the market is slowly getting better.

Margery has guided me through what would maybe be the best route for me which I have taken her advice on so hopefully we will start seeing the results soon.

Dont think Margery can improve as she is always very helpful and if I do have any queries I feel I could just ring her up and discuss at any time.

Margery was amazing.I find it very difficult to understand the different options,it does'nt come easy to me,however Margery broke the eliments down and made it easier to digest.Margery followed up with a written explination and a phone call to ensure I understood the options available.

Our initial chat with you was great! But unfortunately, after saying you would look into things further for us, and then let us know your findings, we haven’t heard anything back from you?! So we are still up in the air to finding Equity Release!

Thank you Janet & Mark for your review. As explained to you when we spoke, due to your property construction, I had to contact all Equity Release Lenders to see if they would accept as security. This does take time, I have now contacted you with my findings.

Margery was extremely helpful in securing us a mortgage when we ran into difficulties securing one. She also helped us in sorting out our pensions and advising us on a way forward for our retirement. Also finding us the correct life insurance cover.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

We were of an age where we needed to plan for our retirement. No longer having school fees and help with university expenses we were in a position to save. We wanted to travel extensively and needed a plan put in place to enable to do this as well as having a comfortable retirement.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Yes we have hopefully. Although stock market hasn’t been great last year, we have left well alone. Leaving it up to the experts at Ellis Bates to keep a professional eye on our pensions and savings. Things are now picking up.

How has Margery Gledson helped you?

Margery explains things in an ‘easy to follow way’. She doesn’t bog us down with financial jargon. She’s friendly and accommodating and knows our goals. Answers everything we throw at her. She will always return our calls and give options we wouldn’t have thought of. Not pushy at all. It’s our money and she respects that.

We are happy with the advice we have received and look forward to seeing Margery in March for our annual review.

Initially I wanted someone who would give me the the financial advice with regards to my future planning of my pensions prior to my retirement and thereafter. Shortly after retirement Margery supported my wife and I`s application for Power of Attorney both Financial and Health.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

My pension portfolio has been superbly managed. Well invested and I am extremely happy from a security perspective. Well informed on an annual basis and Margery has given me excellent advice when requested. Three of the four Power of Attorney`s have been completed satisfactory, However, I am disappointed in the length of time my wife`s POA Health has taken to complete. I am aware this could be from external reasons but it is very frustrating to be waiting more than 2 years to complete.

How has Margery Gledson helped you?

Margery has answered all my emails and has kept me informed. I enjoy having an annual review in person. There was one occasion when I needed her advice whether it would be sustainable to increase my monthly pension. Margery explained the situation very well which gave me the confidence I wanted to go ahead and increase.

What could they have done better?

As far as my pension is concerned. Nothing. Delighted with the service. Just disappointed that I cannot say the same as far as the outstanding Power of Attorney has not been completed in a timely manner when you consider the other 3 were completed with no issues.

Present mortgage deal was due to finish so need new deal. Also wanted to put in place LPA and life insurance.

How has Margery Gledson helped you?

Very good advice on mortgage and life insurance. LPA was completed satisfactorily. Margery made the whole process stress free with her good advice, explaining things so that |I understood what I was entering in too.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Yes, definitely. My new mortgage now means I have no worries about the security of my home. The LPA and life insurance gives me security that my daughter can manage my affairs if anything happens to me.

I don't think so. The advice was clearly presented and options offered and I was given enough time to check everything and make my own decisions.

I was seeking to use equity within a current property via a new BTL mortgage in order to partially fund a separate property purchase.

How has Margery Gledson helped you?

I can't speak highly enough of Margery. She helped me and my wife every step of the way with sound financial advice, great attention to detail, a positive approach and a thorough understanding of the market. If ever I was in doubt about a point or needed further clarification my first thought was "check with Margery".

Everything has gone through very satisfactorily, despite all the usual challenges that come with any property purchase.

What could they have done better?

The only thing I can think of is perhaps something like an online portal where current status of application, any outstanding docs required, mortgage details, etc. are easily viewable and actionable in one place. Although this is less to do with Margery and more to do with current systems in place.
