We hadn't had a review fir a number of years as our circumstances hadn't changed for some time. However, things change and we needed a review and our previous company had stopped operating and Hoyl advised us of the change, so, for us the timing was right.

We needed to review pension plans and savings. Robert showed us a number of options and went through them with us both very clearly to ensure we were aware of the pro's and con's for each option. Effectively Roberts advice showed us hiw we could get a better return on our investments than we were currently seeing and be more sure that the funds would grow rather than be deleted by the management charges

Yes. Late review shows despite the market challenges, that the funds are being proactively managed and we are seeing fair growth. Robert has also been able to help us with regard to generating some additional funds we needed from our investments in a very realistic and honest manner.

What could they have done better?

Nothing we can think of. Robert is always responsive and listens to our needs, making recommendations and suggestions for us to consider before making any decisions. He isn't pushy and never tries to influence us in any direction but clearly explains the options and the risks alongside the impact (positive or negative) of options we are considering. His advice us always fair, clear, concise, realistic and well informed. He always takes into account what we are trying to achieve and need, listens and then investigates and proposes options for us to consider and decide on. He genuinely gives us an excellent, no fuss and honest service. We trust him and his advice.

Robert provided a comprehensive review of the plans and recommendations for consolidation. He also suggested an innovative solution to transferring a pension plan with 35% tax free benefits into the new fund that also opened up the opportunity to top up tax free investing.

Hoyl Ltd were recommended to me by my draw down pension provider when my previous adviser was no longer active. Robert was the representative covering my area and came to my house to introduce himself and to explain what he and Hoyl could offer me.

Robert completed the routine questionnaire to determine the most appropriate risk profile for investing my funds, as well as preserving my income and protecting the funds distribution on my demise. A detailed proposal was then produced and submitted to me for review and approval.

Bearing in mind the risk profile applicable to my investments, the returns have been above my expectations. The last six months since 22nd December are still showing a positive growth.

What could they have done better?

When the investment decision was made, the funds were remaining under the control of the same company as before, but in a different investment vehicle with far fewer restrictions on draw down. I don't think that Robert had had extensive dealings with them before and one or two things regarding draw down charges were not clearly understood at the outset. There is no residual issue though.

I understand that 'cashing in' and reinvesting at a later date is generally not advised by IFA's, but it seems like a lost opportunity having taken Covid losses on the chin, which I would have considered to be inevitable. Again, I'm prepared to play the long game and respect Robert's view on long term investment strategies.
