Nearing retirement so required advice on various pension plans. At the same time we inherited a significant sum of money

Sean explained the various types of pension plans we had and provided advice on how to manage them in the future. He also provided us with a cashflow statement which helped us in decidin on a retirement date. In respect of our inheritance, Sean suggested investments - both lump sum and regular payment - ensuring that tax was kept to a minimum

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Yes. We have been able to plan our retirement with sufficient financial knowledge

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

Having reached 55 I wanted a review of my financial situation based on both my defined contribution and defined benefit pensions. This would give me the option on whether I could retire early and receive a reasonable income.

How has Sean Knights helped you?

I met with Sean and explained my current circumstances and what I was looking for in the short, medium and long term. Sean provided clear, timely and concise advice which both my wife and I clearly understood. Sean made sure any terminology used during the process was put into layman's terms for our understanding. Sean checked our understanding at each stage of the process before moving to the next.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

The meetings and output from his recommendations have provided me with opportunity to retire earlier and help my family with the childcare arrangements and, for my wife and i, to maintain a reasonable standard of living. The SIPP package provided meets my requirements for risk and provides a return which I was expecting based on the meetings.

What could they have done better?

Based on my dealings with Sean I have not identified any areas for improvement in his dealings with me.

The meeting that we had to discuss could have been a little longer as we covered a lot of ground in a short period and I should have allocated more time - my fault really as I was time constrained.
