Pretty typical I guess. Moved around a few jobs and getting to a point where it was time to look how I would fare in retirement.

How has Frances Giliker helped you?

Frances explained the options and did a thorough risk assessment advising me of the pros and cons of consolidation of my pensions including the defined benefit ones. The general advice is stick with a defined benefit pension though one of mine had been sold and bought by what was in fact an asset stripper reducing the pension benefit by half.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Yes. I now have a consolidated pension in the form of a SIPP that is invested at a risk level that I am comfortable with. Its important to understand that it is my risk with my money and I would have no hesitation in recommending Frances (and Chris her partner) to others. You should regularly check the status of your pension(s)!!

What could they have done better?

I don't think so. Frances is always very switched on and professional in all aspects of her work.

Taking into account that this was a minefield for me and that not everything has come together yet, i.e still awaiting my government pension, I'm pleased with the way things have turned out.

What could they have done better?

Not knowing what to expect in the first place, my feeling is that after considering my situation, the advice and guidance I was given couldn't have been delivered in a better way. My only observation would be that having waited for the "dust to settle", I haven't been given a detailed financial breakdown of what happened nor an invoice for the adviser's fee which I thought would be done automatically. I will now take this up with the adviser.

My pension scheme was closing down and i was given the option to transfer into another scheme, or to opt into transferring myself into a private pension scheme and running it myself through a FA.

How has Frances Giliker helped you?

Frances was my last FA advisor i had arranged to meet and to sit down with and discuss my options. Straight away I found the information given to me and pointed out was second to none. While ongoing with the transfer I always found Francis very informative and always quick to respond to any questions I asked her along the way.

As for my outcome it's still early days yet regarding where my money has been invested only time will tell.

As it's still early days with been with Francis I can't really say of any improvements needed. I'm pretty sure all will be good in the long run.

Frances set up my phased pension, in which I took my tax free cash staged over 5 years. She recommended this as I didnt need all of my tax free cash upfront, only some, and recommended a 'phased' route as it has better tax and death benefits. I have been very happy with the initial advice Frances provided and her ongoing servicing of the pension. I am quite cautious and I am comfortable with the funds my pension is invested in.

Frances has always provided a speedy, reliable and honest service which has been tailor made to suit myself in both my requirements from my investments and the fact that I don't have much time to spare to visit her office. I always feel that she is keeping an eye on what the state of play in the markets is and advising me to make fund switches when appropriate, this has worked brilliantly. A first rate customer service and a very very good return on my investments.

My only suggestion would be for a quarterly statement of investments by e-mail to supplement the half yearly and annual statements, however I have found that a fully up to date report is available on request.

After having a bad experience with an investment in the past, I was very reluctant to seek financial advice and delve back into the 'investment world'. But after coming into some money and not wanting to go into a bank, I asked around to see if anyone knew an adviser who i could trust.
